Boost leak

I've only had my 2005 MR for a couple months now, and I believe it now has a boost leak..at full throttle around 5k-up it looses boost and you hear a "pshhh" noise. I was wondering where I should take it/what I should do to get it fixed..I've taken it to two Mitsubishi dealerships, and both times they told me there is nothing wrong with the boost and that it's supposed to do that..when obviously it's not. So yeah, help?

You do a boost leak check yourself? Still under warranty? Let us know more about your car so we can help you diagnose it. Any recent mods? I guess one thing to check is your intercooler pipes. Make sure they all tight around the couplers.

It's still under warranty and the car is bone stock. I've checked around the piping but i'm not sure what i'm looking for exactly, notice this is my first turbo car ha.

How much boost are you losing? Boost taper is normal after peaking.

It will taper at high rpm. It's normal and the sound might just be the turbo spooling up.

So when you floor it, once you get to 5k you hear the BOV expelling air and it feels like you're no longer gaining power? Or when you get to 5k and start to let off the gas you hear the BOV? Whenever you have boost pressure and let off the gas you'll hear the "psss". That's normal but if you have your foot on the floor and hear a "pssst" while acellerating then it almost sounds like your BOV is bad.

If that's not it, the first thing I would do is follow any large diameter tube you see in the engine bay. There are a ton of screws/clamps holding various tubes together. Make sure all of them are connected tight (whichever one's you can see/reach). Sometimes they'll get a little loose and slowly slip off. But usually they pop off real loud when driving. This is my first turbo too so you just gotta read a lot of threads and when something breaks learn from it.

The "pshh" noise that i'm hearing isn't the BOV..I hear the nosie as I'm still accelerating. I guess I wouldn't describe it as a "pshh" noise, but more like a sound of something sucking in air..and once I hear it I lose all power and the rpm's just move so slow...I can tell it's not a boost taper, because it wasn't anything like this a month ago..it pulled strong all the time. I will post up a video later on today with the noise so you can hear what I'm talking about. Thanks

It sounds like you have an intercooler pipe loose. Check all of your connections, both on the lower and upper intercooler pipes.

Build you a boost leak tester, will take you about 25 mins to build and it will cost you under 20 bucks depending on how fancy you want to make it. Take off your air intake pipe before the turbo, hook it up there and shoot about 25-30 PSI of compressed air in there and listen for leaks. The car should be off and cool to the touch. You will hear the air that leaks out. You can also feel it around any place that has a leak. These cars are very finicky about any air that leaks out after the MAS.

Boost leak test will do nothing for this, but I do highly suggest doing a boost leak test after you fix this simple problem just because we ALL have boost leaks.

Do you keep all those links saved just in case another person ask the same question or are you just that bored?

Just get an aftermarket intake and get rid of that snorkel.
