Intake cam position sensor bust...

To cut a long story short, a buddy of mine had a cel light because of his cat delete... came time to do a tune after his turbo upgrade only to find out after the tune and some hard driving that when pulling the ecu for codes a p1012 code appeared...we can only assume that he has been tuned and been driving hard with a busted sensor...

we changed the intake cam position sensor and the code is gone.... was he basically driving with no mivec and tuned with a fixed intake cam position?

Has this effected the tune/performance/bad for the car?

any input will be greatly appreciated as combing through the net is running me in circles...

cheers
