I have a evo IX just changed my oil at 18,000 used royal purple put 6 quarts of 10w 30. I started my car after and I have noticed a ticking or flapping sound coming from my engine that I never heard before. Could I get some input on what that sound might be.

6 quarts dude? I don't know if the IX is different, but the 8 only needs a little under 5.
