o2 sensor question

My engine service light came on today. I took it to advanced auto parts and they did their plug-in device to tell me what was wrong. They said it was my o2 sensor. I was just wondering do i have to replace this immidiately? My work sschedule is really tight right now. I'm guessing that it would be alright to drive around with it for a week until i can get it fixed but I don't really know much about that.

oh, i did just get an exhaust, high flow-cat, boost controller, fuel pump and a custom tune. So i think this is the reason. Thanks for reading and to the people that reply

Most HFCs will throw a CEL after a while, so I'm 99% sure it's that. Go ahead and do a mechanical o2 fix and you're all set.

hmmm.... thats little weird. if you got a tune for the car, it shouldnt throw a CEL. Bring it back to the tuner and get it fixed.

Im sure your high flow cat is the source of your problem. Check out the how to section for the 02 fix. And yes ur car will be fine to drive until you get it taken care of

You can drive with that code forever and wont cause an issue. The only time you need to be worried is inspection time.

It's very difficult to disable this via the ECU...I highly doubt it's the tune.

no it's not. i just did a little tweak to mine to make sure it doesn't pop up this weekend. took about 20 mins. (i run a cat, but occasionally when it is very hot or very cold will get the light).

that being said, most tuners don't add that feature to the ecu.

i also have some other nifty things that came with that including no lift to shift, valet mode, and a couple others.

to the OP, depending on what code it is, i wouldn't be too worried about it. i am assuming it is a p0420. Catalyst efficiency below threshold code.

if so, i wouldn't give it a second thought. it will eventually reset itself. unless you have an inspection coming up, or get tired or looking at it. (it's good to reset it though just in case another should happen)

no need to contact the tuner... he'll tell you the same thing we are.

it's because of the high flow cat. you need to add the mechanical o2 fix/spark plug non foulers/whatever the kids are calling it these days.

it will screw into your rear o2 sensor and your CEL will be cleared. takes about 5 seconds to install and you're good to go. i, like everyone else had to rig one up once i got rid of my cat.
