Ordinarily, yes. In your case no.

Once I've established true centerline what is your recommendation for optimum low/mid spool without a huge sacrifice on top end?

I have a similar setup
2.3L, GT3076R, HKS 272 cams. I wonder if I should retard both -1/-1.

The intake cam is already set to a fairly late 110 deg LC, so I would use 0/-2 for that combination.

That's the plan. Thanks for your input.

Ted, I'm seeing boost by 2500rpm and full boost of 24psi limited by the electronic wastewate at 4000rpm.....is this considered slow boost for the gt3071r? why? Compared too? Could you explain a little more what you mean?

QUOTE=Ted B;11130470]In both cases I recommend leaving the GSC S2's at 0/0. These cams are already timed to give best possible spool without running into issues.

In the case of the GT 3071R, that turbo spools slowly for its power potential, so it needs all the help it can get.

As for the 2.3 with PTE 6262, ordinarily, I'd recommend a couple of degrees of retard to compensate for the different piston position of the 2.3, but with an open .82 AR T3 housing, it's going to need all the spool help it can get.[/QUOTE]

Not slow boost for a GT3071R, but rather the GT3071R gives relatively slow boost with respect to its realistic power potential. Because the tradeoff weighs heavily on the left side of the rpm range, doing whatever can be done to quicken spool is a wise strategy.

For Cosworth M2 with that setup, 0/-1.

Ted you've been doing awesome at getting back to this thread, thanks for all the info you've given.

Here's my setup, let me know what you think I should do, cam gears and do something other than what the OE gears give me:

63 block
Eagle 94mm crank
Manley 150mm rods
Manley 2.1/2.2 pistons
Block re decked .008 taken off
Head re decked .004 taken off
GSC S3'S
OE valves
Going to be running either pte 6466, fp6466, or the like. Shooting for 800whp

Just trying to get some help, I'm building the engine to a 2.3 manley/wiseco, already have S2, but now I'm getting cam, gears, and a black BB turbo.

What setting should i go for?

Thanks for your reply

To get the valve events back where they are with a 2.0L, you'd need to set it at -1/-1 or -2/-2, which will help top end power but soften spool. Try it as-is first.
