Water in engine

So I took my plugs off of the car. I was checking to see if my plugs were fouled because I couldn't get the car to start. I am sure that it was a problem with my starter not being totally connected. But i am looking inside of cylinder 1 and there is water in there and in number 2. I took the plugs off last night and I am guessing what happened is sprinklers came on while I was off with my girl till two in the morning. I had the cover laid on but not tightened on. I am just curious as to what i can do now? can I start the car? is that a definite no no? Please help I feel liike a retard for doing this. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you can suck a golf ball through a garden hose then you can get water out of that cylinder.

I sucked the water out with a syringe and then got a hair dryer to dry it all out. Anything else I should do before firing it up?

Yea, kick yourself for not plugging up the holes when you left it. Next time just finish what you're doing, or stick some rags in the holes and SHUT the hood!

you'll be fine, as long as there's not a lot of water in there, you won't hydraulicly lock the engine.

I will just make sure that I think with my head on my shoulders when doing things like this. I got it all cleaned out and then after I used the hair dryer to dry it I used my air hose to get all the dust I could out. Now if i could get my starter to work. Ugh i just got the oilpan put back on after i gouged the hell out of it and now it wont start.

Change the oil and start it before parts start rusting.

Oil was changed so not to worry there. I still just cant get it to start. Tested battery and starter. still not sure what is stopping it from starting. But greg you talked about the engine hydraulicly locking?? Can that be fixed? I think that may be my problem. Starter kinda looks like its beating up my flywheel.
