ideas on starting a build

Well I'm starting to put together a list of things I want to do and wanted some of your ideas. I have about 94k miles on the car. I'm looking for around 350 to 400 horse. The car is jus my daily driver. I was thinking a 2.3 with a fp green might be the way to go but I'm no expert so anyone out there with any ideas? I'm startin from scratch pretty much. Car has a cat back that was on it when I bought the car. I have a couple of friends thatll help and I might jus get a beater and park the evo in the garage to save money on the insurance. I'm not lookin to spend a fortune. I was figuring 6k might be enough. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks everyone

You can really have fun with 6k dollars worth of mods...Depends on what you want out of the car really. 350-400 whp can easily be attained if you mod wisely.

Contact David Buschur. You will not regret it. Period.

You want a nice setup for street IMO the 2.3 and a FPRed would be very serious and get you your goals with ease , plus some

6K is a good start. There are plenty of ppl on here making that kinda power on stock internals reliably. Search around, read peoples mod lists to get a good idea of what is needed. Here, youre going to get alot of different opinions. Some good, some not. Search, its easier than fishing through opinions. Also, just call a reputable shop. ie AMS, Buschur racing, ets, etm etc....

I'm just a little worried about the high miles. Can the car be reliable? Also if I can hit my goal for less than 6, thatd be even better. More money for suspension. I don't want to call shops yet because I'm nowhere close to really starting and I was hoping to do a lot of the work myself to save on labor. The trans I'm staying away from but I have a buddy that runs a trans shop and he's worked on evos so hell help me there.

six grand is a good amount but it'll disapear fast. Maybe get a fp green/red with some supporting mods and a good tune. Save the rest of the cash if you're nervous about your engine. Have fun with the stock block before you go to a stroker

What about the 3071 ATP turbo kit? Does anyone have any experience with them?

General consensus on the boards here is: that kit really isn't very good. Like others have stated, probably worth just doing bolt-ons for now, keep it under $6k and save the extra for a new motor down the road.

You didn't mention if you will be running pump gas, pump + meth, or E85 for your daily driver. That will make a big difference in how big a turbo you'll need to reach your goals. I was in the 350-400whp range (superflo dyno - corrected) on a stock IX turbo (and FP White) with all the bolt-ons and E85.

you get it at a gas station that sells it, you can usually find them on google, search like Pennsylvania E85 stations. price varies.

After talking to a few people, I'm thinking jus an air filter turbo back cams and intercooler piping and a flash. Ill prob jus save the rest and rebuild the trans. I'm hoping thatll hold me over for awhile.
