Solution for the Trasfer Case issue...

o i bought an evo ix and faced the problem many had... the transfer case problem. as i asked here and there i understood that this problem is because of the AYC rear diff and changing it into a mechanical diff (like the rs) will solve the problem.

can you please help in this matter... any ideas?!

the evo had problems with the AYC on the evo IV, V, and VI but not the VIII or IX where they change it to the SAYC.

well mine is a ix (tuned) and seems that the TC cannot handle it. although i know another guy who has ix rs, which has the same TC but mechanical diff rather than electronic AYC or S-AYC and never had any issues with the TC.

What kind of issues are you having with the T-case? The whine, or did you blow it up? There are plenty of guys here making big power, it's all in how you treat it. I know...I just had to shell out some serious cash to Shep for a TC and trans rebuild.

Hello I have a built 5MT shep transmission stage 2 and a shep T/C stage 3 and on the rear a have an OEM aluminium case diff on my Evo IX GSR european model.
Do I need to change it to RS differential?

its a whine that used to be reasonable and became like a metal sound whine which is annoying... i want to tune that car more and do not want to have this problem bugging me

sounds like a clearance issue in the t-case. they seem to be set up a little loose from the factory and the diff will actually "walk" a little in the case when it is loaded up real good. definitly sounds like a tc rebuild is in your future, it's a big investment but way worth it.

I'm saving up for it too. Visit sheptrans.com for more info. TRE is also another good choice for your rebuild. Teamrip.com
