My 4G64 block after machine work *PICS*

I just got my 4G64 block back from LESCO. They honed the bores, surfaced and o-ringed the deck and line honed the mains. They also machined the block to add oil squirters (see pictures) and tapped the block for the MIVEC oil line. I'm very happy with the way the block turned out.

They wrote a CNC program for their CNC mill to add the oil squirters to the 4G64 blocks and o-ring the deck...very nice. If anyone is looking to build a 4G64 or get machine work done, I recommend their work. Here's their contact info:

Lesco Race Engine Development

I'll be posting more about this project soon...enjoy the pictures.

O-ring (that's just oil on the deck)

Curious as to how those o-rings hold up.

Looks nice. I like that you added the oil squirters...good call. Keep posting pics of progress. What internals do you plan on using? Also, where did the block come from?

Is the 4g64 stock in the Evo 9's? And the 4g63 standard in the 8's?

Sweet. Mind sharing how much the machine work cost? The oil squirters look great.

The block came from a '99 Galant.

Oil squirters help keep the pistons cool which helps reduce thermal stress. What many people don't understand is that as aluminum gets hot, it gets softer (anneals). Over time at temperature, the piston will become softer (weaker) and can potentially fail. Oil squirters help keep the piston temperature down, therefore keeping stregth up!

I will be using the following components:

Brian Crower 102mm billet crank
Brian Crower 6.000" H-beam rods w/ ARP 625 bolts
JE Pistons (custom spec)
ATI Super Damper
ARP Main Studs
AMS/Titan ARP L19 Head Studs
more...

Since I don't plan on drag racing full time and making a large peak power number, I'd rather have more midrange torque for street/road racing. This is one of the reasons why I choose the longer stroke crankshaft.

I am with Jared, nice looking set up, how much was it extra to have the oil squirters machined in?

One thing I noticed about the O-rings is that the ends overlap the next ring instead of sealing with a 90* butt joint. The difference between how we do it and how they do it might be just that and only a difference but I just havent ever seen it done that way.
