i would definately be interested. obviously this will take a little time to get out onto the market so there's plenty time to save money.

Yeah, that would be nice. I don't know if I need this, but the room and access and weight savings would be very nice to have. I got one for my LT1 car.

nice piece there LT1runner. any idea on the weight savings?? i know the 03/04 cobra guys have a t k member option and they can see upto a 60lb savings. i really think this is a good mod for us evo people even if its a 30/40 lbs saving. that seems to be the average with other cars.

What would you be interested in as far as function from a tubular K-member? Would you like a widened wheel track? Raised suspension mounting points to improve suspension geometry on lowered road raced vehicles? Zero camber changes on a rear subframe for drag vehicles? Is it just weight your looking to shed?

42 lbs. The stock k-member isn't that heavy either. Plus working on the car, it's almost like the car doesn 't have a k-member. If the evo was my only fast car, I'd get one for sure.

I would have to weigh the factory 8/9 subframes to get an idea of how much weight can be saved. I have the subframes out of the X right now and I can tell you that they are not exceptionally heavy. IIRC, the rear was around 42 lbs.

We have been planning on doing tubular sub frames on the X with raised suspension mounting points for road racing.

I'm thinking you'd want to have the advantage of more for space and working around it, rather than the weight savings. Sure you may save 20lbs. or so, but it will benefit more for form and function over weight savings.

I have to agree that weight savings would not be the primary benefit. Clutch jobs and transfer case removal would be easier for sure..... but being able to change around suspension geometry would be the main reason IMO. Combined with some chromoly adjustable suspension arms, it would be a wicked combo but quite cost prohibitive.

For me the suspension geometry is the sole reason. IF we could tune roll centers a little easier and dare I say lower the engine a little (I know this is not as easy as it was to type), there are significant gains to be had in road racing.

The Zero camber change rear end geometry has advantages as well.

Ivan. i dident really think that far ahead. but if your asking me i was looking for just weight savings. but if it could be setup for suspension changes and such the only thing i use my car for is street/highway and weekend drag racing. the way i drive i could care less about a turn. crap if i turn the wheel and go striaght i just yank the ebrake and pull my Tokyo skills out. haha. so would your thoughts still benafit my needs other then the weight savings for how i use my car???
