20g turbo TDO6
20g turbo TDO6
I just bought an evo and I still have my 95 tsi. I would like to get couple of answers. I would like to know how quick is a spool up on an evo with 20g turbo , used on a motor with cams and 3" exhaust. What is evo stock turbo rated at? I have a big 16 on my talon with built motor and I think that car is quicker than my evo. The turbo kicks in about 3K. I'm thinking of getting bigger turbo on an evo but I'm concern about turbo log. thank you
Nobody really does 20g's on an evo because as you will soon find out an evo is actually quite different than a talon. The evos stock turbo is reverse rotation and the manifold must be changed in order to put a proper rotation turbo on it. CBRD is doing upgrades to stock turbos if your in the market for some more power without the headache of changing everything. FP is also offering upgrades but id rather stretch my lower lip over my face before I buy something from there.(even though most people like their products)

Turbo lag is over rated. Once you hit boost on a bigger turbo the lag is worth it. Break boost if you need to. But since you dont wat to go huge I would say a FP green or red would be nice.
IMO, since you are concerned about transient response and not spending your life's savings, I would roll with a stock IX turbo on E85 if you have it in your area. Stock IX turbos normally sell for $450-$550 here and a nice set of used 880cc injectors will run somewhere around $225-$250. A street tune (again if available in your area) usually runs somewhere around $200-$250. That puts you somewhere around $875-$1,050. This is cheaper than the FP Green, BBK Lite, BBK Full, and FP Red respectively.
