Definitely going with the Perrin now, great thread, and very impressed with the results tested. I had to laugh when the K&N's didn't preform well at all and running no filter yielded better results lol.

If you want your Evo to be fast, you better be using a Perrin filter. Using any other filter is just like saying "I could have a faster car, but I choose not to".

It's interesting, I read it totally differently: to have nearly as much power, with the best filtration, and ease of a totally dry filter (unliked the oiled Perrin), I went with the Amsoil filter.

Amsoil is the only filter I'll recommend. The Perrin requires heavy oil in order to filter correctly and most people generally remove a lot of the oil before installing, thus negating the filtering effects. The Amsoil will produce similar gains with better filtering.

did anyone in this thread bring up the effect of an oiled filter on our MAFs? old thread, i know.. but it's the only thing keeping me from purchasing a Perrin filter. i'm told oil is no bueno for MAF cars.

I've had mine appropriately oiled for over two years, and my MAF, including the sensor, has no buildup of any oil or other contaminants. I think the people that have issues with the oiled filters must be just soaking the ish out of the filter to the point that the excess oil will separate, and flow through the pipe down to the MAF.

that's kinda what I was thinking. I actually have one of the Buschur filters used in this test. but I know it won't last forever, so looking for my next filter.

Amsoil ftw

**** the rest

My buddy bought a brand new Perrin intake and it ****ed his maf sensor since there's so much oil on it.

For us Evo owners we need to do oil changes, fluid changes, brakes etc.

It's nice to add parts that require zero maintence.
