Running richer would suggest the filter is More restrictive than the previous filter.

MAF accounts for airflow changes (for the most part), but not for differences in turbulence.

That is what I think. I was expecting it to get leaner if perrin was fowing more air but it seems to have gone richer. Very confusing . I am using AMS intake pipe.

All depends on how your MAF is currently scaled.

I have a perrin intake, and switching did not give me any problems at all.

My wideband went a smidge leaner when I switched out my Perrin filter for the new Buschur filter without touching anything.

Just sharing.

You need to understand how a Karmen Vortex systems works. The air mass is calculated by measuring eddies induced into the air as it flows through the intake.

Lets say we have two intakes that flow exactly the same amount of air at a given pressure, one causes the air to lfow in such a way as to produce more eddies, the ECU will see this as a greater air mass, and give more injector pulse width and make the mixture rich. The other air filter flows the same amount of air, but causes a smother flow, so the ECU see this as less air flow, and gives less injector so weaker mixture.

So nothing to do with flow, everything to do with eddies ( vortices ).

They always have...the original test was done on a car with ACD. That's why we recommend silicone intake pipes since they can be trimmed to fit perfectly with whatever filter you chose.
