A K&N filter should be fine for 30-50k miles depending on driving. For a typical street-driven Evo I'd recommend every 30k though since we do take in a lot of air. If you drive off-road or in dusty areas it should be more frequent though.

The internals of that adapter is pretty rough as stated. I'd spend a few extra bucks on the vibrant.

The Red filter look like the Spectre performance filter you find at Autozone, which I found that work much better than the HKS foam filter I had on my car. It uses microfiber technology, more throttle response and performance too bad I never dynoed tested it.
Can we see the ARC tested??? LOL I had to... haha
Nice job on this shootout! I read the entire thing! Still stuck between Amsoil (because of fitment) and the Perrin (I just don't like the whole oil thing..)

Thanks for all the good info, now I would like to get an open air filter myself.
BTW, How loud is the Amsoil filter (4560)? I heard a HKS filter (mushroom shaped) once, and it was pretty loud at high rpm WOT. I know many people here like loud air intake sound though.

They all are loud, but I would say they all sound about the same. The HKS and Perrin may be a little louder than the Amsoil and the K&N. I dont think you will be able to tell a difference.
