New Alternator

Last night I had my alternator checked out and its not working right so I need a new one. Question is there an aftermarket on that is better than the stock one? Or should I just order a new stock one?

That's a good question. I've only ever had OEM replacements on any car I've had.

I've looked. And I mean LOOKED for an aftermarket alt for the evo. No luck at all, I've done it 3 times now, and been forced to buy OEM every single time. Around $240.

This is the best bet. Buschur said after he switched his IDC went down, ignition got better and logging had better resolution. If you find out how much or even if he still makes them let me know i would be interested also.

The best alternator for your car is the one on it now. Pull the alternator and take it to a shop that fixes alternators and starters.

If installation wasn't such a PITA on these cars then I'd go with an aftermarket unit but considering the fact that the rebuilt aftermarket units tend to die pretty quickly, I'd stick with a new OEM/Iraggi alt.

Yet another alternator replacement for me. Number two and it is not fun to replace.

Hopefully this will be help to someone. After looking all over for an aftermarket solution I came up with a part #. The factory Mitsu number is M366831D. I called numerous suppliers such as Rayloc, Bosch and Wilson to have them cross reference that number. The last I called, Wilson, had an alternator available. The part # on there alternator is 90273303. Price on it was around $150 and a core charge of $50. I believe Wilson to be a good product and have never heard otherwise from anyone. But, the closest one available was in Canada and I need a new one like....well,...now. So, the $240 Mitsu it is.
