Question Better deal: Brand New flywheel or resurface the one i have?

I am getting a new clutch kit and i was going to throw in a new flywheel too, but my mechanic told me he could just resurface the one I have now. Would resurfacing it make it like new, or would it be better to get a new one? (money isn't an issue)

Were you gonna get a new aftermarket flywheel or just another stocker. Your mechanic is right. He could just resurface the stocker and it would pretty much be like a new stock flywheel.

i was going to get an aftermarket one with my clutch kit off ACT. i'm not sure how to see if my flywheel is stock or not, i just got the car about a month ago and i find out new stuff it has everyday so im gonna have my mechanic check it all out fully. if it is stock, im probably just going to get a new aftermarket

The stock fly wheel on an EVO, are light from the factory, lighter the the DSM's. You could get a Group-S fly wheel, which is lighter then stock, but for $30-$40 to resurface a stock. Unless your running big power thru your EVO and looking for every little advantage you can get, I would just re-surface the stock.

thanks. I just cancelled the order on my flywheel. I do race my Evo, but not seriously enough that I would want to spend an extra 400 dollars on a new flywheel. Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate it. i'll just have it resurfaced
