whining noise when in gear?

hey guys i searched but want to explain this myself. when im in gear and low rpms the car is very whiny...its actually almost annoying. once i get to like 4k rpms which isnt often because i dont like beating on it the noise goes away...so basically i hear it constantly lol. its not so bad in fourth and 5th though. is this the transfer case, tranny or what? also for some reason from shifting from 1st to 2nd it gets like stuck a little...i almost have to force it. please tell me this is somewhat normal lol? thanks

sounds like you def need a new clutch and possible flywheel. i had a similar problem and happend to have a cracked flywheel. it happens so just get it checked out before you really hurt your car

The evo's have a little whine in 1st gear. See if you can post a vid of the sound and we should be able to tell you if it is normal. You shouldn't have a problem shifting though. Before you go replacing your clutch, I would replace your tranny fluid and you should replace all the other fluids in the drivetrain while you are at it.

The whine is loudest in 1st gear. It should be quieter in the higher gears.

Mine whines in first and gets quieter in 2nd then is pretty much gone by 3rd.
Mine used to get stuck between 1st and 2nd really bad. I put in the Blox front roll stopper and shift bushings and it helped a ton. If yours is a really loud whine in higher gears I'd get that checked out.

There's a "Somethings Wrong" whine and a "Gears are Happy" whine and they are not the same. My car has made the "Gears are Happy" whine since mile one. I hear it most in third gear at 30 mph and it is almost musical.

So, it depends, a whine could be bad or normal.

My MR whines in 5th and 6th on decel from about 65mph-45mph. I don't remember doing it until I had the dealer service my car. Stick in the clutch and its silent, engage the clutch and it comes back at those speeds. Anybody else had this (not trying to threadjack just figured I ask)
