So, what do I need to do to solve the HKS intake idle prob?

I got the car and it was equipped with a HKS foam type filter and intake pipe. I read about it before I got the car that the idle will jump around a bit with the hks intake. I am getting frustrated with it now! Ill will be sitting at a light next to somebody, its even been a cop once!, and the idle will jump up to like 2k just for nothing and then fall back down after a few seconds. It is getting pretty embarrassing!

Do I need to get a new pipe and filter, and wipe out the whole hks kit in general. Or, can I just swap to a different filter and be good.

It does it a lot more when we get these decent temps here in illinois, like today!

I cleaned out the MAF today to see if it would help and no change!

I have the HKS pipe/filter kit and HKS 280s and my car idles great. Are you still on the stock ROM? You might need to raise the idle or play with the tune to dial it in a bit.

Yea, it has no tune that I know of. I bought it with a stainless manifold, o2 housing, 3" TBE, Hallman Pro boost controller and the hks intake. I have been reading up on the Jestr mail in flash"s? I am confused about them from what Ive read so far. Do I need a method of datalogging before he can do anything with it. Or, can I just mail him the ecu, and tell him what is on the car and what the boost is at and he tunes it to a safe measure with those mods? I got dsmlink on my talon, but Im not looking to throw something like that on the evo just yet!

Yea I was thinking about them. I just dont know if I can just drive up there and go, heres the car tune to run safe on say 19-20 lbs! If it is that easy, then I will do it. I just dont want to buy a form of datalogging for the evo. I am trying to keep myself from doing too much to it now except some cosmetic changes!

Yea thats what I am starting to think. I dont know if I should just swap out the hks filter for a K&N cone filter or buy a new hks replacement. The previous owner just drenched this thing in filter oil. Do these even require oil?

here are a couple helpful links to show exactly what youll need (software, tactrix cable) to download your ecu rom and email it to a tuner, as well as upload it back to the ecu once the changes have been made.
