The car will run just fine without a new tune. There is always going to be room for adjustment and a more aggressive tune after an intercooler install though.

To answer the question though, you will be fine.

Thanks,

Michael

buschurs race intercooler has been on my car for over 2.5 years, and I can honestly say that it is best intercooler that I have ever used. ( I am not a nut swinger by any shade of the imagination) . this is on a daily driven 400whp car. ( It is also coming from a person who has used nearly every core out there, from cut up semi truck ICs to Griffin cores)

Save your money for a little longer and get daves.

What's the difference between Dave's 4" Race IC, and his thicker IC with the 4.5" core? Is the only difference the thicker core and the commensurate higher price? I imagine that the 4.5" IC requires elimination of the crash beam, huh? That doesn't bother me though as my Evo is non-USDM and has no crash beam anyway.

The main difference is the obvious extra 1/2" as you mentioned.

Yes the BFIC (4.5" core) does require the removal of the crash beam which many guys do any way to shave some extra weight from the front of the car. 13lbs to be exact.

At this time we can not get the Race cores from Garrett regularly. They have been back ordered for sometime now and trickle in slowly. The BFIC's have been selling great for us though as we have been price matching the BFIC to the Race FMIC price which is a savings of $50. Its a great deal for those interested in a bit larger intercooler, dont mind removing the front support and also like saving money.

This price match offer is good for ANYONE interested in the BFIC until I can get the Race FMIC back instock. Then it will go back to the normal $849 price and the Race FMIC will be $799.

I will also throw in free shipping for an additional savings of $40+.

If you have any other questions or if there is anything else I can help with please feel free to ask.

Jarrod is the man, he will definitely help you out. I bought the BFIC as I have stated in previous posts and couldn't be happier. I would definitely take advantage of the price savings, it's well worth every penny.

I remember a few months ago in another intercooler discussion thread I promised to post the results of the PERRIN FMIC once I got my AIT sensor installed in my intake manifold. Without having my logs handy I'm taking this info from memory, but I can definitely post up the exact numbers later if people care. Basically, during the dyno pulls (many pulls back-to-back so the car is nice and toasty) the temps inside the manifold drop below the temps at the MAF which were roughly 10F warmer than ambient. Ambient was around 58F inside the dyno room, MAF was showing 68F, and my AIT sensor inside the intake manifold was showing 62F. When the car is cold (before start-up in the morning) the MAF temp sensor and manifold temp sensor read exactly the same so I feel they are both accurate. This is with a stock turbo running 25psi; Nisei aluminum intercooler piping. I'm very impressed with this setup!

I added it to my Perrin/Nisei review thread a little while ago. I'll look up the actual numbers from my logs tonight though and will post those.

^^^ Buschur makes a nice intercooler.

ETS makes the same size, and using the same Garrett high end intercooler core, it's $100 less.

Workmanship is excellent.
