First time clutch job.
First off thanks for posting on my thread bud n trying to help me out
Ok so im following the evomoto write up on this and it says to remove the cross member with the motor mount on it then start taking the bolts outa the tc....well witht hat done it allows the motor to move a good inch so when im pullin on the dayum thing the motor is liftin up.....
i dont want to give up on this clutch job lol i was thinking yesterday what have i got myslef into but i have takin motors apart in other car but this evo is a pain in the rump lol
If you can, get a metal penetrant called Aerokroil.
It will save your knuckles, trying to loosen rusty bolts.
I happen to work for an airline, so I have access to better products than the commercial "rust buster" sprays. Good Luck!!

ive been reading along your clutchjob, as i plan on doing the same except with a friend who works at an Auto Service shop, so he works on cars all day and went to highschool for it.
but anyways, im eager to see more of what ur doing! still pondering going somewhere to get it installed though :-/

technical highschools do
he went for auto tech. and they set you up with really sweet jobs for your senior year and for when you graduate. you switch weeks back and forth, academics, and then shop.
except this one kid who was working on his bosses truck the second day on the job, and didnt tighen all teh lugs after he rotated the tires, and his wheels fell off on the highway driving home
needless to say, he was fired

The only reason i decided to do my clutch job on my own was the fact the evo has been sitting for a year now so why not do it and just take my time and that is what i have been doing...
I mean it has been how many days and i just now got the 6 bolts outa the TC ...which i would like to thank 4 banger for the kind words or encouragement
.
When my clutch goes out, I'll be getting an upgrade clutch too but not sure if I want to tackle this job myself as I always want to save money and have been doing most bolt-on myself. Great thread. Keep it up and GL.
Tomorrow im going to an A7X concert so i wont be getting any work done on the car but i hope to start kicking things in high gear and get this car back together in a week or 2 depending if sum parts get here or not..
time for bed.......what a long day
