I just looked at Buschur's pictures of his current build, and the stock evo block has the exact same passages including the 4 that I showed need to be blocked. This makes me think I don't need to bother closing up those 4 passages. JohnBradley, any input?

The machine shop told me those 4 passages are just air bleed passages and not to worry about them.

I have been busy and forgot to update this. I got my block back from the machine shop and am putting it together. I'm a little concerned about the crank thrust because I have .007-.008 in. of thrust. The Mitsu manual says .009 in. is the installation limit, but I would think being lower would be better. Anyone have any experience with this? I called ACL and they only make one size thrust washer set, so I may not really have any other choice. Maybe the Eagle crank is machined slightly smaller or something.

Also, I'm not in a big rush right now because I am waiting for my final selection into the NAVY as an officer, and I don't want to have my car torn apart when they tell me to go. When I get my final selection notice with my report date on it I will decide if I am going to be able to get it done before I leave. If not this project will get put on hold until I have time to do it, which could be a long time.

Well, no turning back now. Taking the motor out was a PITA, but hopefully it will be worth it. I rode in Reese Tuning's HTA82 powered RS the other day and it re-sparked my fire for this project. That thing got some!

I ended up ordering a Spec Super Twin clutch because I want this car to actually drive somewhat nice, and my lady needs to be able to drive it. I also ordered an anodized black ETS 4" intercooler today. I was going to just put the stock turbo back on to break the car in and to give my bank account some much needed R&R, but I don't want to work on this thing any more than I have to, so I am just going to do everything now. I hope it runs.

Haha. You are following my same logic. I first told myself I'll break it in on the stock turbo and such. Then I didn't want to have to go back in and swap out parts so I bought a turbo and manifold. That's when the cash started to flow out of my bank like a ruptured damn.

Yeah, 10-4. That's at least how I justify it with myself. I'm sure I'll have all of the nagging issues you've had too, so I need to get it done and make sure it runs right before I leave for Navy OCS in August.

I ordered the turbo and wastegates yesterday. HTA82 with a 1.00 divided T4 housing and Tial 38mm v-bands. I just need a few more things and I'l be ready. I'm going to be running the stock computer, so I need to get the 4-bar MAP sensor for that.

I degreased the engine bay, cleaned the tranny up, and painted some brackets. I just have to put the front of the new motor together, and then it will be ready to put back in the car. So far the process is going very smooth, and assuming I get a clutch early in the week, the motor should be back in the car by next weekend. I will post pictures later this morning.

Here's the pics. Not much to look at, but whatever. Check out my new baja tuned front suspension. 3" lift is the new thing to do. Btw, how do you guys make to pics so they just pop up, and you don't have to click on them to see them?

I've done as much to the motor that I can do right now, so I'm pretty much waiting for parts. I cleaned every single part and bolt that I put on the motor, so hopefully it runs as well as it looks. I dented up the oil pan when I was taking the motor out, so I'm trying to decide whether I should buy a new one. Its not that bad, and it only got dinged up in the shallow end of the pan, but I'd hate to have any issues because of something so stupid.
