Encountered a problem. What you think?

So yesterday about 1 am on the way back from Fort Collins, my car started making a little winding noise everytime I hit the throttle. It was coming from the driver side. When I got on the Hwy to go home, after awhile it got louder and louder. Until when I couldn't really accelerate. I ended up not passing 60 mph and then seconds later I couldn't really do ****. So I put it in Neutral and coasted to the shoulder there was a little grinding noises as if I was dragging an exhaust or something. (Metal to Metal) Then I started smelling something. ( can't describe it)

After I had pulled over and we looked under the car didn't notice anything I got in the car and rolled forward slowly and it just grinded hard, so I stopped and when I go in reverse it like kind of locked so it wouldn't go any further unless you make it and there was a grinding pop sound.

Some of my friends I was rolling with said it sounds like the cv axle that goes in the tranny. I really hope this isn't terrible or the transmission because I will have a horrible time getting it to Jacks if it's that. What do you guys think?

The owner of Creative Auto Concepts should be able to tell you.

Sounds like the transfer case is toast. A+ on continuing to drive on it at the first sign of trouble.

Sorry to hear that your tcase went. I guess with the 8's, it's only a matter of time. Hopefully i'll have mine rebuilt before it happens.

I have heard of stories about whining and everything and it usually comes from the tcase so maybe this is right, who knows until they get in there

If it is the tcase and you have it warrantied, then you should have nothing to worry about.

Well I trailer my car back to the shop on Monday night and yes it was the transfer case. It leaked oil which caused the pinions and rings to fail. Tuesday my car was ready to go. It wass replaced with another built t-case. Just picked her up yesterday. Everythings all good
