Well, when the dealer looked at it, they said that the body shop who installed my Buschur FMIC and LICP figured that the line that used to get hooked up to the little nipple on the short pipe that provides pressure to the BOV or wastegate or whatever, shouldn't be hooked up to anything.

So what should have been providing pressure was leaking it instead or some such gibberish. The are gonna hook it up correctly now, test the vaccum lines all around then clear the engine error codes and go from there.

Nice , Good thing your car had a boost limit set in the ECU.

I think it has a "make the car clunk an shudder like you are driving over logs" cut in the ECU!

If for a reason the Waste gate was un hooked or something" Do you have a boost gauge??" what was it reading? You would have lots of boost. Too much. and then the ECU would read that and cut it and it is very harsh. Did it seem like you had more power when you got the car back? more boost pressure more power, boost cut. Could also be that the extra intercooler added more boost by adding flow and what.

Nope, I don't have a boost guage... My car is bone stock other than the FMIC and LICP.

Apparently the line that plugs into the little nipple on the down pipe was just hanging there connected to nothing. I believe that would just leave the waste gate wide open according to the dealer.

But I bet it hauls *** until it cuts out right? Classic line poping off the wastegate. Many engines have been blown because of that.

edit: Actually it would leave the wastegate closed which would cause overboost, followed by fuel cut after boost limit is exceeded.

Actually it should feel like it hit a brick wall after the load exceeds the boost limit value for 1000ms (eg fuel cut). That is if your tune still has the boost limiter intact, since the OP was on the factory tune it probably did no harm.

Yeah, it felt like it hit a brick wall and had rapid abrupt deceleration at about 4000 rpm.

Good to hear that my engine probably wasn't damaged since I'm on the factory tune. Because if it is damaged, I know I'm gonna have a big fight on my hand with the body shop and insurance company about the body shop not installing an aftermarket part correctly as part of my insurance claim.

Actually, if you read what I said....I said until it CUTS OUT. You're not the only person to ever experience this phenomenon. .......actually.....

sounds like boost cut to me...Do you have a boost gauge or anyway to log it. This happened to me after switching over to a new map I forgot to change the boost cut load level. It felt like I hit a brick wall right around 4000 rpm depending on gear. Some a little sooner some a little later but it was abrupt and sounded like I blew of an intercooler pipe. Boost cut adjustment is a very easy fix. New parts can cause you to hit a higher load value and trigger the cut with no changes to boost level.
