Out of couriosity,

Has anyone changed their muffler in their B&B cat/turbo-back? I know some people did not like the non-straight through design, so did anyone weld a new muffler on? I got some pretty impressive gains from the B&B turboback, but I wouldn't think that changing their muffler would be THAT drastic of a gain.

Does anyone know the HP gains on the Espelir exhaust? Torque gains?
Thanks,
Gonzalo

What do you mean by non-straight through design?

Totally confused

Hey David, and anyone else who can give some insight...

Among the big makers of aftermarket exhausts, outside of price, materials (really weight), loudness and JDM-appeal, is their really a difference between say comparable exhausts from RnR, Buschur, Vishnu, AMS, Perrin, HKS etc?

If i'm planning to do complete rebuild, should I stick to one manufacturer or pick and choose?

Just some info for someone trying to understand Evo parts.

Thanks,
g

Hi, I am thinking of changing my whole turbo back real soon. Apexi has come out with a range of good cat backs, like the Hybrid. My cousin has that and it sounds beautiful and has great performance gains. I'm just wondering has anyone heard of or using the Apexi PS Revolution. Would appreciate if you could get me some performance and sound reviews on the PS.

wondering whether i should choose the buschur exhaust or 30th anniversary hks hi-power exhaust... looking for nice deep sound like the sound clip on the first page has of the hks with room to mix and match different makes of downpipes and the such without hassle, while still maintaining a decent gain in hp.. maybe too much to ask?

My first criteria is sound level @idle/cruising (the quieter the better) and second is HP potential. After listening to the various sound clips, I'd have to say the Perrin is the quietest followed closely by B&B and then the Buschur unit.
I would be very surprised if the Burschur was louder than the other two you mentioned. I just installed the Buschur w/ Magnaflow box on my Evo 8 last weekend. With the stock cat in place, it's barely louder than stock...I can't imagine any aftermarket exhaust being any quieter!

The sound is very nice. The Magnaflow seems to cut all the highs and mids, but lets the bass through. So it has a nice, deep sound...but it's not boomy at all. Just about perfect.

Before you make a choice on anyone else's exhaust please check ours out. None lighter out there, none making more power (muffled) and none cheaper. Check us out.

We have a car in here today, the customer brought all of his own parts in the trunk for us to install.
As always I am curious so I took some measurements and weights.

Megan 3" downpipe. Nice piece, true 3", heavy though, weighs in at 9.3#'s compared to ours at 5.5#'s.

Perrin offroad pipe. Nice piece, true 3", also heavy, 4.84 compared to ours at 2.8#'s.

Apexi catback. Not so impressed. JDM style exit that is turning the entire rear of the fascia black. Has a resonator and the tubing for the first 2 feet or so is NOT 3". The tubing just behind the cat for the first 2' measures only 2.75".

Just some observations.

David,

Just curious, but why is your so much lighter than the others? If its the same material as the others then I can only guess its thinner and therefore less durable. I hope I am wrong as I am seriously considering getting your exhaust with the magnaflow muffler.
