The axle back/offroad pipe is a good gain in power and the noise level is still not too loud as the factory catback tubing has a couple of resonators in it. It is actually more restrictive than the factory cat!

Wow I guess I can scratch the idea of axle back/test pipe. Makes me wonna rip out my stock pipes right now!
I'm looking forward to getting one of your catback or turboback systems.
Thanx David.

I can do a custom JDM style tip for someone that HAS to have it. I do not want to put this into production again but winter is slow here and I can use my car for a fixture to build them and get the perfect.

The flamed tip look we won't do as the SS doesn't blue up very good.

The 3" exhausts are clearly listed and described on our site. If you order just a 3" catback it comes with no flange as we assume you will slip fit it to what you are building or have. The SCCA catback comes with the 3" flange on it already. Sorry it was confused.

Question

David,

I bought a slip on by a mistake (turbo back). And I had to buy a 3 inch flange from you. Question? With a slip fit, in order to weld the flange, do I have to cut the pipe tip off so that the length is accurate? This is the end that connects to the cat.
Thanks

Your site says the following:

"This version of our 3" EVO8 catback exhaust will allow you to run the factory converter. Although we recommend running our 3" downpipe and 3" high flow cat or offroad pipe, we realize that some of you need a system to run certain SCCA classes, etc. You will need (1) 3" exhaust clamps with this system, offered separately. We recommend our stainless wrap clamps as they will not crimp the pipe and give a positive seal preventing any leakage."

Does the suggested 3" exhaust clamp help attach the muffler to the midpipe? Also, I get the part that the SCCA catback will bolt to a stock cat - So, does the exhaust taper and have a smaller flange OR does the stock cat have a 3" flange?

Does the SCCA exhaust use a different muffler?

Thanks!

Its a full 3" flange. It still bolts up and seals against the smaller OEM cat flange.

The clamp is mandatory to seal the mid pipe to the muffler. They sell the Walker clamp. Mine leaked. I threw it out and bought the Jegs clamp which is a better design.

The SCCA has the same muffler options as the standard catback - loud Buschur race muffler or quieter Maganflow muffler.

The SCCA catback has a full 3" flange on it that still seals up well to the factory cat.

BTW, I went and read the website and it is not very clear. We just changed it. I apologize for any inconvienence it caused any of you!!

The SCCA catback can be ordered with either muffler we offer.

David - Not to beat a dead horse - The way I understand it - The only differnce between the SCCA cat-back and the "regular" cat-back is the addition of the flange at the cat end of the mid-pipe, correct?

How much HP do I have locked up in my stock catback? I will be in the CB market soon once I can get the $.

Mods (04, 93 octane):
MBC
3" DP and cat delete (with stock catback)
10.5 Hotside (waiting for downtime to install)
272/264 cams
HKS RS intake
Fuel pump
DF street tuned

Car is slightly slower than it should be with the respective mods and I think it's the factory catback. I recently tapered the CB where the 3" catdelete mates to to it and also saftey wired the muffler's flapper wide open which helped boost response, but was wondering if the stock CB is locking any more HP and how much.

Yes, an SCCA catback has a flange on it.

The combo of parts you have, c6c6,is pretty extreme to still be running through the stock exhaust. I'd say that our catback alone is going to add a solid 20+ whp in this particular situation. You need one bad.

Thanks

I guess I better pull the cork and get a catback, I'd get the $450 Buschur but my darn catdelete has a flange.

OUR CATBACK if you order the SCCA catback has a flange that will bolt to the stock cat or anyone's offroad pipe.
