are you rev matching or just down shifting and dumping the clutch out?

Well I have an Exedy Twin HD as well, and really hear no noise what so ever besides a little rattle at idle. I would start rev matching on down shift. I do always down shift and never heard any clunk. practice in a safe place though seriously. once you have it mastered you will like it.

It is normal, but the op should learn to rev match, youll get a smoother gear change, and can save your brake pads once you master a proper downshift.

knowing how to rev match is also nice when you're cruisin on the highway and need to downshift from 5th to 2nd / 3rd or something equiv to eat some sti for lunch. if you know what you're doing, you can rev match and not jerk the car at all.
