1450CC on single pump?
1450CC on single pump?
It seems a lot of people here are running 1200 cc and running double pumps. I don't know when FIC came out with the bluemax injectors which go up in 50cc increments, but now that they do, is that a viable option? I have only seen one person run 1450s and a single pump and that is Jid. He ran out of fuel on e85, but he is on a 2.3 with a gt30 or 35r. Currently he is running a modified single pump.
I am thinking about going with an FP red and 1450s on E85 with a single pump. What do you guys think?

At 30psi indicated manifold pressure, a single Walbro 255lph flows about 210lph, which isn't quite enough fuel to maintain fuel pressure (43psi across the injector) with (4) 1000cc injectors.
Some have used oversized injectors as a 'band-aid' for an inadequately sized pump, but I'm not an advocate of that idea. Consider a pump upgrade if you want the most from that turbo.

I can tell you that with 1200cc and a single pump, I started running out of fuel above about 27-28#. Still made 479 whp with that set up. The pump was limiting before the injectors I think.
Pretty sure my modified single pump crapped out today. And it was brand new.
My AFR's went to the roof - literally at about 5500 RPM. I thought it may have been a logging error at first. I made a couple pulls and it is consistent every time. Very scary actually, knowing I made 3-4 pulls like this. Glad I was on E85.
Bigger injectors can't make up for fuel supply issues. My duty cycles were around 60% when I first ran into issues and I increased fuel drastically in the map without a bit of change to AFR. It doesn't even work as a band-aid.
I'm going to swap back in my stock walbro and lower the boost to 23 psi. I have a track day in 3 days and need this fixed.

Should I go ahead and buy 1450s or 1250s? I'm thinking about running a red or maybe gt35r. I'll be running pump gas +single pumper at first and later e85+double. Jid got them dialed in so I should be able to dial them in as well right? Stock 2.0 liter with cams here.
1250s should get you by on a Red with competent tuning. 1450s are better suited for a GT35R. Both of these scenarios assume E85.
In either case, you will not have enough pump for more than 500whp on E85. On race gas, a single pump is good for around 600whp.

I think that a single pump is kinds sketchy on E85 after seeing what I'm going through, it's too close to the limit and leaves no margin.
My issue may also be the fuel filter as Bryan pointed out in my other thread, I'll let you know.
