K&n drop in or cone filter ??????
Not sure what to do I just got a K&N cone style filer and have been doing some research and it seems that a drop in filter is perfered. Any suggestions ? I hear the cone style filter just sucks hot engine bay air in , and that there are MAF issues with readings.

I have a K&N drop in. Seems to work just fine. I made 350whp and ran an 11.9@116 with just the drop in, TBE, and tune.
I would not put an open element conical filter in unless I was focused on drag racing. After a few hard miles on the track or even around town those open filters will be sucking in nothing but hot air. This is a no brainer as you can see the heat wash come out the hood vent even while driving normal.

i'm totally bone stock with the k&n drop-in. absolutely no issues and my gas mileage went from 12-15 mpg to about a normal 16-20. it also depends on what your plans are for the car. if you don't like the k&n, there are other drop ins also.

K&N is bad for a MAF. Oil contaminates the MAF and makes it malfunction. i have found a lot of people complain about that on our cars and many other MAF operated cars. Dry flow filters is where its at.

I bought the complete Perrin turbo intake and I immediately noticed better gas mileage the next couple tanks, and I didn't drive it any easier. It kind of makes the turbo spool kind of loud, but a lot of people like this. Also, you'll be able to hear the stock BOV much better. Again, to some this is a pro, to others a con.
On one tank of gas, I was almost able to get 300 miles on a full tank by taking it a little easier and running the tank pretty low. Probably not a great idea, but I was just seeing what I could get out of it since I was used to a 19.9gal tank from my last car (3000gt VR4) and I was used to getting 400 miles to a tank regularly.
