Clutch slipping??

Ok i took the evo out tonight for some local meetups and jumped on the highway. I gave it some power in 4th and it felt real weird. i gave some power in 5th and felt like the car was going no where. got off highway and got back on. Gunned it in second and my rps shot way up along with boost but i was barely going anywhere. Noticed that my acd fluid is low. Could this be a factor or is my clutch going out? I have a act clutch with somewhere in the mid 400 hp range. Dont know exactly which clutch because it was already installed. Car downshifts fine. In gear drives fine but when i boost it, it goes no where.

That sounds like what mine started doing three weeks ago......changing it this week. Whenever i floor it and it hits boost it just rpms rise quickly with very little acceleration.

Yep, clutch is toast. Doesn't matter how many miles are on it given those symptoms.

never said the miles had anything to do with it i was just curious!

anyways it might not even be the clutch might just be a boost leak, cant heart to check and see. its alot easier & cheaper

agree cluch is shot.. If the owner before u beat it to death It could go in 4,000 miles.. But yea it is a cluch.. Get a twin disk or 6-puck if it running mid 400's. That way u have room to make faster also

With the twin disk, nobody is having the high.rpm lockout? Heard good things and I heard bad about exedy. I just wanna get a clutch that will hold up. I will pay whatever I have to for quality I don't cheap out. What else is recommended and is lightweight flywheel that much of a difference?

for that price i might as well go with the tilton clutch. I want to know if a flywheel is that much of a drastic change. i hate doing rework. if im going to drop the tranny then i might get everything knocked out of the way at one shot then piece by piece. i would do the tranny to but thats a different funding lol. I want a clutch that will hold what i have plus whatever else i throw at it for a while.
