So should we abort on wheel hop or not? If we abort we could just press the clutch in and it won't be as bad as letting off the gas and the tires catching a traction and breaking something?

I had wheel hop and the moment I felt it I stomped on the clutch and got off the gas and I was ok. I you attempt to power through it or do not notice it in time you will break something. I do not recommend simply letting off the gas while under such exteme load...

if the wheel hop is significant at all, I'll clutch it and get off the gas immediately. Best to save the drivetrain for another attempt. Sometimes wheel hop can be alleviated by adjusting tire pressure or going to a completely different tire.
