Tomei Arms 7960 Turbo
Tomei Arms 7960 Turbo
Does anyone know anything about the Tomei Arms 7960 Turbo? I am considering this one compared to the FP green but just trying to do some research and see what others know about it.
tomei hasnt had any good independent tests the Greens are proven for meth and pump gas as well as e85 setups but their customer service sucks i recomend CBRD BBK they have the best customer service and their turbos are awesome. i have had experience with all three of them so this is my opinion as well as being a tuner who has tuned many cars with each of the turbos the only tomei i tuned was horrible in my opinion.
Here you go, a few threads for you to read:

I just installed a ARMS and it made 20 more WHP than my Green (non HTA type). Everything remained the same on the car. Same dyno, same tuner, similar weather, etc....
My car runs 91 octane, ~23PSI, stock 2.0L, and a bunch of bolt-ons. Sorry I cannot give more details. The testing is part of a magazine article for Import Tuner.
I like the spool of the ARMS much better than the Green.

I cannot say that I personally run the Arms 7960 but I can say that it is certainly in my top two turbo choices once I return from Iraq. For starters, it flows 48-lbs/min with stock-like spool. It comes with the upgraded wastegate actuator along with the installation kit in the event you have an VIII. It performs pretty good with the smaller cams and torque is pretty impressive. I plan on running E85 at around 32-35PSI once I get away from this Iraqi dust. Bottom line, any of the stock-framed turbos is a nice choice with the right supporting modifications.
well believe it or not I think I am gonna take the Arms 7960 kit off my evo and sell it. I am gonna put the stock turbo back on run 93 back on it. I am moving here in a couple months and not gonna have access to E-85 very often. So I think I am gonna sell it and buy a full turbo kit from AMS. The Tomei turbo is a beast but I like some others out there....WANT MORE POWER. So if anyone interested in a month to get my Arms 7960 kit they are more than welcome to buy it used from me. I figured this was gonna happen as soon as I upgraded the turbo, wanting more power. It currently has 600 miles on it and I only drive it here and there on saturdays. And I don't beat on it as the clutch slips if I hit the gas hard...the act clutch isn't strong enough to hold.
