I just installed my new rear main seal. I am pretty paranoid about everything with this new build. I tapped the seal in the housing a little further than the outside. It is not all the way to the lip though. I really do not want this thing to leak.

Can the seal be pushed in the housing too far or will the lip stop it before then?

Hmm.....Wish I could find some clear pictures of it installed/being installed, maybe I suck at searching. This might help:

The seal should seat up against the lip. Tap it in untill it seats. Use anerobic sealer on the housing when installing on the block to prevent any leaks.
