I have heard a lot of good things about MAP and not sure if they would do such a thing like this to ruin their reputations. It's very hard to prove who is right and who is wrong in this since the OP didn't open the package while the delivery guy is there to have a witness other than OP and his dad. I would probably cut the loss and use my stock flywheel on the clutch if that will work. Like someone said, scratches and surface rust should not affect any performance or apperance since it's inside the tranny and no one is going to see the rust or scratches. GL

Agreed, and I can assure you this will never happen again.

I think what you are missing here is that the warehouse already knew they had made a mistake when I called. Of course they didn't deny it, and of course they didn't have any reason to suspect wrong doing as they knew they had made the mistake in the first place.

I appreciate that sir. Part of me wishes this thread would just go away, but the other part of me appreciates the lessons I have learned and the different viewpoints presented. We're going to continue to do what we do with the same level of customer service that has come to be expected of us. This is the first mistake we have made in over three years that has resulted in negative publicity, and it just goes to show that no one is perfect. We will learn and become better from it

Go back and read my first post in this thread here and work on your customer service. Unfortunately, if your business is nothing more than a reseller of someone else's products, then you need your customers a LOT more than they need you.
+10000000000000000!!! Very well put sir.

Like what chris has stated, not every company is perfect. there will be times where a mistake or two happens. You have to remember maperformance deals with thousands of customers. A mistake is bound to happen, its what they do to fix the problem that keeps people coming back. I purchased a fpred from them a while back and was left in the shadows as to where my turbo was at. Adamn from maperformance contacted me and stated that fp was not going to have some for a while but he upgraded me to the ported fp red with no extra charge. They didnt have to upgrade me but because it was an inconvience they decided to. that is the type of customer service that brings people back. for you guys saying that they are mearly a reseller of someone product, isnt that what most of these companys are. Not only do they sell other products but they produce some great quality parts as well. I know everyone will not be pleased by what has happened here but mapeformance will continue to be here and continue to get customers and continue giving great customer service. My hats off to maperformance. One of the best companys on evom.

If there werent so many shady people robbing businesses and stealing from people using internet classifieds, people like map wouldnt have to be so defensive. I deal with customers everyday who will lie and accuse and NEVER admit fault just to get something free. It is a problem with americans these days that people think they are ENTITLED to something. There are countless threads and events where people rip people off and get away with it constantly. People falsely using credit card chargebacks and all kinds of abuses I would have definately though the OP was a scammer. Classic walmart scam put the old broken part in the box and return it. Sorry Croat kid, but at least map kept looking after what seemed "obvious" and fixed it up.

look how the tone has changed from confident that the kid is a scammer
map ftmfw etc, i was lurking in the thread and wonderinng if some of the faithful realise that no one is infallable except jesus. anyways im glad the kid got his clutch in the end but my question is this, if map knew the clutch was shipped from a distributor and they had no hands on procedure in how the clutch was shipped why be so sure that the clutch was weigghed with the flywheel and was in fact 34lbs when it left? why even tho they had no hands on the packaging or shipping would they still be adamant and dig up posts to suggest the kid was lying? and why after all this finally reveal the item was drop shipped?

i dont know about u but if someone pays my company for a product and i get a 3rd party to package and ship the part and the customer has complaints first thing im gonna do before i tell him i doubt him would be to check the 3rd party for the screw up.

mistakes do happen.

ps i think croatiakid did the right thing and got his father involved, he seeked counsel from his dad, nothing wrong with that, map took counsel from anonymous members on this board that hyped up that the kid was a scammer.

which is worse?

FOR EVERYONE THAT SAYS THEY WONT BUY FROM MAP!

Take a step back and think about it: They made a mistake......I doubt it will happen again the same way.

I believe Chris and his employees learned a lesson from this incident and won't make the same mistake twice......If anything, I bet their customer service improves!

......and maybe MAP will look for a different distributor for their Exedy business (I for one would pay a tad more to avoid this type of issue in the future.......I bet that MAP would have gladly paid $20-$40 more for the clutch to avoid this)

Again....before jumping on the "They lost my business or the “I will never buy from them again” Please think twice about the situation and support the vendors that support this site!!!!!

(I am just a neutral party that has had both extensive Retail and Wholesale Distribution Experience in the sport compact market……now I am just an opinionated enthusiast)

That is rediulous. The clutch never got installed and it didnt cost him anything extra so future care when he orders stuff should be plenty reward. Why do people always think they should get free sh*t? They get what they deserve and thats enough.
