MAPerformance BS
yea i new it was something else besides a scam. i voted fed ex the whole time. so im sorry to them.
congrats to OP to getting it resolved and not listening to all these fools.
i still think MAP fails here. the blammed the OP the whole time and that is just bad bsuiness. they should have held off making any comments until they called exedy and fedex.

I have watched this thread from page one, decided not to post due to a couple people making valid points in the kids favor. Most people(including myself) suspected that the kid was not lying, however, the typical vendor- nuthuggers kicked in and helped motivate Map who were so adamant that this person was lying. "The numbers don't lie, the numbers don't lie." Numbers can be manipulated.
With those actions, I will not purchase anything from map, however, I hope they learn from this situation and not assume so much.

Well I am simply amazed, the Exedy warehouse it was shipped from is going to pick up this unit and have a replacement sent out to the customer. I honestly thought they were going to tell me there is no way they were at fault and leave us hanging. Perhaps they have seen something like this happen before? (Dropspeed edit: I had to laugh at this comment...if you only knew!) In any case I am relieved that this situation has been taken care of and if a used clutch was accidentally shipped to the OP I feel obligated to extend my deepest apologies for any negative accusations made throughout this thread...
So this warehouse (distributor) received a returned clutch for repair from a customer or Exedy returned a warranty clutch in a new box (which they do on occasion when the part is sent in from the distributor))....The warehouse distributor then accidentally puts the clutch on the shelf....MAP orders a clutch from there rep and has it drop shipped to the OP.....(PS they have predetermined weights in the shipping computer to make shipping faster) the OP gets a used clutch and tries to get it handled by contacting MAP when is is accused of trying to scam!.
So MAP does everything in its power on this thread to belittle and basically make this kid out to be a scammer when in reality he had done nothing wrong.
In the meantime the warehouse does inventory and realizes that they have one to many clutchs on the shelf and then decides they "will handle it"....Intern making MAP have to eat crow and apologize to the OP because it was indeed the fault of the warehouse.

Besides "taking care of it" what is this warehouse distributor going to for MAP and this customer??? It sure looks like they are both owed more than just an apology not to mention that MAP now has a customer service ding on their record that some potential customers will not overlook.
I have been in the facility at Exedy/Daikin Clutch....this is not/was not an an Exedy issue. The warranty pieces are not near the new pieces.
At the same time it was also not an issue that occurred at MAP.
Because the clutch was drop shipped the responsibility is solely on the Warehouse Distributor...they realized it and have now handled it.

thats what im saying. Sorry MAP but i think you lost a little bit of business here.
Remember the customer is always right. in this economy you cant go accuse customers of lying before knowing the facts. Hope everyone has gotten what the wanted out of this.

Agree...I've dealt with MAP before and it was an excellent transaction but for them to accuse someone so fast....
I'm glad everything worked out. Seemed kinda odd for MAP to do something like that considering there rep. on here but everyone makes mistakes.
Just curious why MAP didnt contact exedy to inquire about this BEFORE responding to the customer bashing him? Sounded like MAP was too focused on avoiding to eat the loss of the clutch that they didnt sit back and assess the situtation as whole. It sounded like MAP could have resolved this by one phone call to exedy much sooner and none of this would have dragged on.
I am not bashing MAP btw. I have ordered from them before and have always had good service/experience with them. Just giving my .02 here.

^again - this thread was started yesterday afternoon. ~430P EST. I'm not sure where Exedy is located exactly but my guess is this all started too late and MAP couldn't do much until today (which they did).
Meanwhile, someone is bashing their name on a public forum so they responded. Hindsight being 20/20, MAP should have brought the thread to a halt with a comment along the lines of "we are going to contact the manufacturer tomorrow..." but we all live so that we can learn.

Agreed, just put yourself in the kids shoes. He orders a very expensive clutch, gets a used one, and then is called a scammer...I think the dumbest is that people argued that its not Maps fault because they did not screw up their order they placed months ago. So that means that because they didn't mess up your order that they couldn't someone elses?
Wow I guess the little saying don't assume as it will make an a$$ out of you and me didn't come to mind in this situation. Props to the kid for being remotely calm about the situation, if it happened to be me you can rest assured I would have given someone a tounge lashing. I am glad that MAP got the issue taken care of, but the demeanor and style in which it was handled was disturbing IMHO. And to the nutswingers that were attached to MAPs pubes the entire thread... how does it feel to have that lingering taste of fail in your mouth?
So I guess MAP was lieing when they were talking about box weights because in reality the flywheel really wasn't in there and the box would have weighed less.. Bad business practices will close you down in a heartbeat, in any business. I still lol at the people who were on the MAP bandwagon who didn't even look at the whole picture. Just because they ordered something from them before and it didn't get screwed up does that mean they are the uber parts company and could never mess anything up. Especially when they weren't even handling the product personally!
