Engine Rebuild Advice
Hey all.
As some of you may know, Im currently rebuilding my motor.
The car itself is driven on the street, but will also be used for Time Attack events + Circuit.
At the moment, the motor is currently getting built with the following (without getting into it too much);
-100mm Mitsubishi Crank
-Carrillo Rods
-CP Pistons
-Kelford 272*'s
-1mm O/S Valves
-Trust T67 Turbo Kit
-Trust Intercooler Kit
And Im trying to decided whether an aftermarket intake manifold + throttle is worth my time, money and effort.
So far, I have narrowed the choices down to four combos;
-Stock Mani + MIL.SPEC 65mm Throttle
-Hypertune Mani + 77mm Throttle
-Plazmaman Mani + 72mm Throttle
-AMS F1-I Mani + BBK 75mm Throttle
What do you guys think? Is it really worth my time and effort? Now is saying that, im not in the game of 'lets push the stock mani and TB as hard as we can just to prove a point'. I dont roll like that.
Regards,
Alex

just port your stock intake mani, a larger throttle body will increase power but decrease throttle response which could make all the difference on a circuit. btw i hate almost every thing trust/greddy has made personally, especially the 2g dsm fmic kit. i myself would also go with a buschur fmic and a dif turbo kit, ams makes wicked ones at a good deal, way better than any greddy t67 setup IMHO

^ really? I have heard the opposite with the larger throttles... the throttle becomes very touchy...
Ive got better things to spend my money on ATM then a new turbo kit + FMIC kit... Thanks for the advice anyways!

i could be misinformed, because it does make sense that increasing airflow would increase response. i believe what heard involved the rate the butterfly opens after increasing size. that may be car specific for fly by wire TBs though. i dont wanna be another guy on a forum giving advice and talking out his ***, im just giving you what i heard. my car is sporting a stock intake mani and tb on its 650awhp setup, but you may end up convincing me to add a 75mm throttle body if what you say is true [thumbs up]

^ Im pritty sure a larger T/B actually INCREASES throttle responce.
MY mate is running a 2.2L Tomei Motor, Cosworth Head, 280* BC cams, Trust T67 Turbo, and hypertune intake + throttle, and he has CRAZY throttle response...
