Exclamation Turbo Pressure and Engine Damage

So I'm currently looking into getting a new car, as my old Saab is falling apart, and I spotted this: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/cto/1395285142.html on Craigslist. According to the listing, the seller says "Car runs great. Never launched, only occasional pulls. The cars was tuned at 32psi and made 530whp. After it was tuned we turned it down to 26-27psi and never touched it again."

Me being new to tuning and the workings of an engine, I'm not really sure what type of damage cranking a turbo up would do to the engine. Also, not quite sure what he means by "occasional pulls" and I assume he means "launch" as in taking off from a stop? Figured I'd ask before I went and bought something that might not work... Any input? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Corey

Since you obviously don't know much about these cars, or modding cars in general, I suggest if you do decide to buy an Evo that you buy a stock one and modify it yourself as you become more comfortable with it. Also, the price of $5,300 is obviously a scam since in proper running condition that car would probably be worth over $25k, not to mention the seller didn't post any details about the car.

I figured there must be something wrong with it, figured I'd ask some people who know about these types of cars. I did plan on at least taking it for a test drive and checking everything out, but the price seemed sketchy and all he mentioned was the turbo so I was assuming there might be some engine damage.

So it was tuned for 32psi, and then they turned it down. Did they re-tune it for 26psi?

Mega cheap price. Maybe it's a typo and they ment to list it as $25,300... Look at it if you can, but it doesn't sound to promising.

Always assume the $20,000 rule.

That is, no matter what you pay for the car, assume that one way or another, you will have $20k in it by the time you get it into decent mechanical and aesthetic condition. This is not an exaggeration.

There is a craigslist scam going on with cars. People sell cars cheap and then they turn out to be stolen. I would suggest you check all the vin#'s because if it's too good to be true then it usually is.
