Mike

Your t3 turbo (pt67-65) is making power to 10K on a 2.0L engine.
2.4L engine is 20% bigger, accordingly your turbo will work as hard
at 8K as it is right now at 10K rpm (everything else being constant).

If any T3 turbo is going to make it that would be the pt67-65, but i doubt you'll see any gains revving it to 9K

Have any proof to back up your statement?

How well do you guys think it would do on the strip as far as revving goes or should you just stick to the 2.0 or 2.1L?

Now what about longevity? Normal driving, strip every so often?

2.4L sounds interesting.

Just a side note I had David build me one of his first builds ( 2.0, head, AEM, Ect.. ), on my first EVO8. Back in 2004 I was just recently contacted by the new owner to see if I wanted to buy it back.....if I only had the money to own 2 .

Oh I almost forgot it has 75K miles on it..... so if done right Im sure it will last.

I thought I remembered Robert at FP telling me that he considered a 2.3L to have the airflow at 8000 that a 2.0L has at 8500 rpm. So just because 2.4 is 20% more displacement, I'm not sure it's as simple as multiplying the rpm's by 20%.

So what are the 2.0L, 2.1L, 2.3L revving to?

Sorry still learning about evo's. So the 2.4L will hopefully rev to 9,000rpms. Or should say that's the goal.

I can't wait to see what happens with this!
A 2.4 would be awesome on the street.

I can't answer questions on longetivity or anything else. This will be the first one we built and until I build it, test it and see how long it lives I can't say.

The 2.0 builds we've done will go over 10,000 rpm without an issue. The 2.1's technically will rev even higher than that and so far seem to be working out very well. The 2.3's I recommend a maximum rev limit of 8500 rpm.

The truth of the matter is 1 in about 4,000 EVO owners need an engine that goes to 10,000 rpm. Maybe even less than that. I believe in setting the rev limiter about 50 rpm higher than the RPM required to cross the finish line in 4th gear in the 1/4 mile. So if your car can do that at 7500 rpm then you need a rev limiter set about 7550.

Quick Reply: BR, 2.4, high hp/high rpm build?
