GM LS line of motor has the Warhawk version by World Product (I think) as well RHS also has their version of it too.
It would be incredible if let's say BR were to collaborate with one of these manufacturers and build a >2.5L aluminum block. I would think there's enough demand for it to make it a financially viable undertaking considering how many EVOs there are out there.
I wouldn't mind plunking down $3000-4000 for it.

Jarrod will be taking and posting photos of the build as it goes. It should start next week.

I've always wanted to build a 2.4l myself.

David, I know you've always said you think the stock Evo gearing works best, but on a build like this would you recommend a longer 4.11 FD gear?

Can someone calculate what 4th gear on the 2.4l would be at in different rpms with stock gearing(4.55??) and a 4.11?

Just curious.

Its more or less a split, you could run your 2.4 at 8k with the 4.11 and be as fast as a 2.0 at 9k with 4.529 gearing. There is a thread somewhere but I couldnt seem to find it.

Not my calculations, just a copy/paste (saved on my desktop) from an old thread:

Speed with stock final drive, 8000 RPM:

------------ 4th --- 5th --- 6th gear
VIII 5speed: 129.8 - 185.9 - n/a
IX GSR 5spd: 122.1 - 175.9 - n/a
IX MR 6spd.: 121.7 - 154.2 - 193.2

Speed with HKS 4.11 final drive, 8000 RPM:

------------ 4th --- 5th --- 6th gear
VIII 5speed: 143.1 - 204.9 - n/a
IX GSR 5spd: 134.6 - 193.8 - n/a
IX MR 6spd.: 134.1 - 169.9 - 212.8

I will be doing the 4.11 final drive along with the 2.4L build.

Here is a spreadsheet I made showing RPM vs Gear vs MPH for both final drives. This is with a 255/40/17 tire that I am currently running. I also have a set of 245/45/17 tires that I will most likely use at the dragstrip, so they are a little taller and will help out on the big end.

ps - how you like THIS spreadsheet David??

SloRice.. your car I suspect doesn't have a big torque hit, but has just ridiculous top end pulling. Are you thinking with the 2.4 you will have the same ridiculous top end but with more torque?

With my 2.4 / 35R, the "fun" part of the powerband is peak torque area. It pulls up top for sure, but the emphasis is definitely in the mid-range. I'm just wondering if all 2.4's are like this.

Also, is it true that a 2.4l just won't feel as smooth as a 2l at high revs? I mean shorter stroke must be a much smoother rev'ing engine at high rpm than a 100mm stroke motor right? I find my car pulls up top, but it feels a bit more manic / crazy then when I was on a 88m stroke.

I like that spread sheet. If this BR 2.4L does infact rev to 9,000 rpms with no problems that will be amazing.

^ yes most definetly..

Here's an example for you.

Drag radials will yeild faster trap speeds slower times

whereas

slicks will yeild faster times and slower trap speeds..

Smaller the wheels yes, faster trap speeds. But then again you will need the rubber to hook up.

Slicks wit
