Question 9/10sec sec Guys w Exedy Twin that converted to Triple...Do you like it?

Well my Exedy Twin HD is about to go out. It has 34K+ miles/2 years now with 60+ passes at the track. I think I may still have ~5Kmiles or 3 track days left on it.

Do you think its worth converting it to triple?

I get lock out in 2nd gear after launching last last time.

I don't know my HP/TQ as of now but I trap 135mph w bad 60 ft last time(1.77)

Should I just get the twin rebuild kit or convert it to triple?

I like the exedy a lot and I can't believe it lasted the way I drive it. I don't know if there is any other clutch to consider that will last 35K miles and plenty of passes. lol

Go triple. I went with a twin to start with and it started slipping with only about 15 passes on it and about 410 hp. Get the triple and save yourself money. I DD my evo with the triple in it right now.

I updgraded my twin to a triple about a year ago. It held up to two nights at the track and I haven't run race fuel since. I can't comment on it's shifting ability because I'm pretty sure the issues I have flat shifting right now are gearboc related. I can't be bothered to rebuild my gearbox as I'm trying not to spend money on my car and the box is perfect for everyday driving.

The clutch is squeaky when cold these days, and I often wonder if I did the right thing throwing in those flawless new discs and intermediate plates with a beat up flywheel and cover.

But yeah, Exedy gets a big thumbs up for me. I've owned 4 of their clutches in the last 8 years and they've never dissapointed in the holding power or longjevity departments.

I had a twin but sold it and just bought a new triple. Works very well IMO.

It depends on where you get the parts. I just rebuilt my triple for the second time. I have gotten about 30-35K in mileage out of each build with at least a full season of drag racing (50+ passes). The last rebuild costed me $1200 and that included 3 friction plates, 2 intermediates plates, a pressure plate, and the new center hub they use. Without the center hub, it would be closer to $1000, but they just changed their design to have various center hubs with friction plates that can fit on any of them. The flywheel was $400 if I remember, but I had one from my last build, since I reused the flywheel on my last build.

As far as driveability goes, they are perfectly driveable until they start to fail. Actually my clutches have never slipped, they just start to become really chattery and grabby and have to be rebuilt or else the driveline will go boom (learned that the hard way on my first clutch).
