in short.. its a boost controller that is controlled by the ecu. advantages are being able to control the boost curve throughout the entire power band.. where as a manual controller you are only able to set a target boost and from there you have no control of the curve past that.

If you want a great power band and also I am not sure TSCOMP can answer but I dont think there is a PSI limit on it either. If you want it done the guy that replied to you and explained it is who you want behind the PC getting you straight.

would 350whp be fairly feasible with the following:
upper/lower ICP
stock turbo
stock cams
3" test pipe
3" downpipe
stock exhaust
perrin (probably) intake
injectors (i know i need them, not sure of how big for my goals, etc., etc)
fuel pump (same as injectors, i hate the wahlbro whine though)

considering a cat-back if needed, and obviously would be getting a tune..

sounds reasonable to me yes. ive had evo 8 turbos do that (but hks cams), so an evo 9 turbo should be able to do it. the walbros dont whine in the evo, because the evo has a low and high relay switch point so you never hear it in a evo at idle like you do a dsm.

i would throw some 850 fic or 1000 pte.. give yourself alittle extra head room.

its important the exhaust system can breathe well.

yea, injectors will be bigger than what i'm aiming for, i just didn't list a size because i really haven't looked into reading about them at all yet, i just know i'll need them.

turbo i was looking at the 22-23 range, i've been told 24/25 is the turbo and wastegate max, so those seemed reasonable. if not, i'm fine with lower. 20 from the factory is already impressive..

my friend has a miata with a wahlbro and it whines like a *****, but if it has the low/high like you say, im obviously never going to hang my head out the rear passenger window and go 'omg guise i can haer it!'.

the catback i just haven't looked into yet, though i think i'll probably end up with one eventually. i need to go to more local meets and hear other peoples stuff before i decide on what i want

thanks for the help =)

you can hit 350 in a evo 9 without touching injectors or the pump.. the pump in the 9 is actually bigger then the one in the 8 also. the cams are also better in the 9.. comparable to hks 272's pretty much based on results from multiple cars.

and of course mivec will help as well when configured properly.. the evo 9 has a lot of advantages over the 8.

your friend probably has the walbro hard wired to the battery on the miata, so its running 100% 24/7. when doing that they are very noisey.

How much hp/tq can I make with my set up?

I have a VIII with a stock VIII turbo. I'd like to max this turbo out, but I think I might be there.

I've been working on my tune for a few weeks on E85. How much can I make with my current set up? My mods are below.

Also, I'm trying to budget for the next mod. I'm thinking GSC S2 cams with beehive springs. I'm hoping to get to the 400hp/400tq. What else will I need to get there? This is my DD and reliability is important too.

gsc s2 are way to big for stock turbo imo..

400whp can be done but will take lots of boost.. it will certainly shorten the life of the turbo.. it will get extremely hot.

I plan on getting a FP Green or Red when the stock one gives up. I'd hate to buy two sets of cams. I guess I could buy some used S1's and get the S2's and springs with the turbo upgrade.

I'm not in a hurry to buy a new turbo, so what would be a turbo saving boost setting? I have the mbc cranked all the way down. I'm only getting 28lbs, but I do notice it's a lot hotter in the engine bay. Would a DEI turbo blanket help or will the turbo get too hot regardless? I thought about trying to adjust the wastegate to get some more boost. Obviously this was just a thought and after your comment about shortening the life of the turbo, I will probably keep it at 28lbs.

the mhi turbos are well built, so it will probably be fine. 28 is way past the efficiency of that turbo tho on the compressor map.. so regardless its going to blow hot air. your fmic is doing twice the work thats all.

wouldnt bother with a turbo blanket. but i boosted a evo 3 16g at 30psi+ for over a year straight before without any issues.

stock fmic is going to heatsoak really bad on the dyno. i cant really give you a number because i dont know the temperature of the dyno room or anything. i would atleast think 350-370 on the e85 though.

Actually, I was told different by a well known tuner here in San Diego. He said the car will not heat soak with a stock intercooler on e85.
