Cessna's quest for 9's on a stock motor
So you guys all know the Ricer was on a mission to see what the factory 4g63 would handle and we pushed it to the limits with a 10.04 best et and a few 142.xx mph passes... DAMN impressive for a stock bottom end. +2 points for Mitsubishi.
And you also know the motor from the Ricer wound up with a few holes in the block from a miss-shift at about 10k and that abruptly ended our quest.
Chris Cessna's quest, however, is just beginning.
His 2004 Evo RS was dropped off to us in Feb 09 as he was working overseas in the Navy. When he returned in the Fall, he ended up with a 10-second, streetable, sneaky car. I'm still personally impressed with the abuse this car takes... and likes!
The 4g63 is still asking for more and so is Chris. We know his 10.7@130 is a far cry from a 9 second pass, but his car is still no where near the level the Ricer was at... and STM has learned a few more tricks since then.
November:

Yeah, he's still got A/C!

And today:

Box of crap:

One big advantage Chris has over the Ricer is the car itself: it's an RS. When Ricer ran the 10.0 it still had the sunroof, power windows, abs, sound deadening, all kinds of extra brackets, heavy suspension pieces... Bunch of crap. We just got done doing it to Ricer for this season... we can do it to Cessna's car just as easily.
Another thing about stock-block Ricer... it was street tuned. STM didn't have the Mustang dyno yet.
So I'll leave you with a few videos and pictures and let Emery chime in on what's planned this winter for Cessna's 9-Second Stock Block Quest.

To be honest, I don't think its going to be so hard to do. If I knew then what I know now I think we would have gone a lot faster. I know Chris is very excited about this time around and so am I. I can't wait to see what happens.

I got lucky... I money shifted my Evo to 10k+ and kept my rods inside. I've been keeping it off c16 since and waiting to put some new rods/pistons in!
Did you con-rod fasteners fail on the over rev?
