the black makes more power on my daily driver then i could possibly need, negating the need to go to a laggier big turbo setup.

how well does your ets 3.5" fmic work with your setup?

also do you have a fully built motor or drop in internals?

When are you guys generally seeing 25psi on pump on a Fp Black + 2.3L setup?

Checkout the motorsports section. GST and Evolution Dynamics, both shops with road racing customers have had handfuls of failures. They don't put those turbos on road race cars anymore. O-town-fla also lost a red in one time attack season.

I'm running an FP-Black on my stock bottom end and on the 92 pump tune I saw 25psi at ~4200. I don't have the actual file to look at in ecuflash, just a dyno sheet.

yup, i've heard something around those lines about the fp's

just fyi, on the subi forums it's very well known that FP turbo's are very unreliable. Yes they put out great numbers, but as some said in this thread; I would trust honeywell(garett) over fp any day.

no offense to FP, don't pm me or start crap and you won't tell me that i'm wrong as I have seen so many failures it's not even funny. I've had friends lose their fpgreens to order new one's (warranty was not given either) and the new turbo fails too. Robert@fp pretty much(not pretty much, he did) burned the bridge between subi owners and fp, but that's another story.

I have not read about a failure of a fp turbo in awhile. when the red first came out there were a couple but they addressed that with the new oil line. if your running the oil line should not be a issue. THEY ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE RUNNING REDS GREENS AND BLACK with no issues beating the **** out of them. Its like seibon some hoods are good some are crap like the one i had. fp knows how to make turbos and you think mike@awd or most wanted had constant issues or failures with there runs or test. Held up prefect Nothing is perfect quit making it seem like everyday we read about a fp turbo failure they are holding strong.

These turbos have proven to be outstanding but my question is why are they so f**king expensive and they are journal bearing turbos

Maybe we can get some answers on here from FP backing up their turbos perhaps.. Share some failure numbers...

FP gets backed everytime one of the customers kicks butt at the track.. I really don't think they need to chime in, but that's my opinion of course.. I hope they do, but seriously, I don't see the point if its to back their turbos.. They work, and they work damn good...

I read that folks are recommending FP's stock appearing turbos over similar T4 TS setups if they are looking for power in the 600 range.. If the number is all you're looking for, then I would agree, but for overall efficiency and durability between the two, I would not..

because they are in business to make money does not cost them that much to produce either turbo the markup is high but again they have the ablitity to make a good product if you dont like it buy all the machines needed to create your own turbo and do the testing etc. LOL not happening so you pay what they want if you want to run there products

I live local and recieved a Fp Red out of the first batch. I also bought one of the first 80mm comp. covers. One of my friends who is also local bought one out of the first batch as well conquisidentaly. Anyway his blew up... Mine has been running on 30-32psi from day one and still spinning. I even had it destroy a gasket after a few of the bolts that hold the mani to turbo backed out. I ran the stock oil line for over a year then switched to the first gen. ss line feed from the head with no filter. I have done tons of drag racing etc. with it but no road course track time. I love this turbo and want to have it rebuilt into a Black. I would have already but want to upgrade the tranny/t-case/engine before making my final turbo decision. Because at that point I will want to be done for awhile and who know when the FP Clear will come out

IMO the 3582 is still better because it has greater potential and can hold the power up top whereas a stock frame turbo will fall off. Plus I love the sound of an externally gated ball bearing turbo. 35R IMO is still the king of the streets in Evo turbo applications. Plus theres things you can do to help your 35R turbo spool as fast or faster than a lot of FP Black setups. People like to brag about pricing too on the FP black but I pieced together my 35r build for just a couple hundred more bucks than you can buy just The FP black turbo for.
