MT-90 save for my JDM EVO?

I understand that the JDM EVO 7 and USDM EVO 8 share the same 5-sp tranny, so I guess it is save to use MT-90?
How about the transfer case, front/rear differential? Are they different because of the ACD/AYC? Is it save to use Redline GL-5 75w90?

Direct from the Service manual.... you need to check if Redline has a GL-4 for the Tranny.

So, is my transfer and diff the same as USDM? Many USDM owners have good result from Redline oils.

Call Redline, they are probably the only ones who can answer the ACD AYC question.

As for the MT90, I don't see any reason you can't use it in the trans.

Raywong : For the jdm/uk Evo with active diffs, its the same spec fluid as the US viscous diffs. i.e.

Transmission : Gl-4 75W90 (E.G. Redline mt-90) = 2.8L
Transfer case (ACD+FRONT DIFF) : gl-5 (e.g. Redline 75w90 or Amsoil 2000 75w90) = 0.6 L
Rear Diff pinion gear compartment : gl-5 (Redline 75w90 or Amsoil 2000 75w90) = 0.55L

AYC
----
Rear Diff AYC clutch plate compartment : Mitsubishi Diaqueen ATF-spIII or AMSOIL ATF(made to replace atf-spIII) =0.7L
Hydraulic system (bottle in boot) : Mitsubishi Diaqueen ATF-spIII or AMSOIL ATF.
"AYC Fluid" is being phased out and has been replaced by atf-spIII.

p.s. If its an Evo8, then remember the SAYC takes less fluid (.55l) than the older designs.... its easy to overfill!

Do you have a 7 or a 8?

You should tryout the redline shockproof for your transfer case.

It is a heavy duty gear oil.

I have the 7, and thanks for the advice.
I bought 4L of MT90 and 2L of GL5 75w90 after reading some post here. But later I thought the Jdm might need different oil. Some local garage did recommend Shockproof for the diffs. If my diffs are the same as the USDM, I will use the 75w90, since many USDM owners are happy with it.

The fluid requirements are the same. Many acd E7 & E8 owners i the UK & Jamaica use those oils to good effect. There are other choices, but the Redline MT-90 works particularly well with our gearbox. You can't go wrong with either Redline or Amsoil!

I have the Amsoil 2000 in my rear diff (have not gotten around to the transfer & tranny yet) and I have no problems with it.

No.

The transfer case which houses the ACD & front diff (most models have the helical lsd), and rear differential (AYC) are different. The 5-speed W5M51 Transmission is the same. They use the same gl4/gl5 lubricants as per the service manual.
