Slow Boys 2.4 stroker Mivec

Anyone running a SB 2.4 4g64 stroker with Mivec head?

If so, how do you rate it?

I am thinking about this setup with a 850r?

Hey buddy, our 2.4 is a true 4G64. It's not a stroker. Do you have any particular questions? We've got a lot of these out there, both street and race cars.

You can check out one of our threads, here. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...lock-sale.html

If you can - shot me an email - mh@slowboyracing.com

Marti asked me to spit some game in the forum, but obviously anything I would say is a bit biased.

If you email or call me, I would be happy to tell you how it all works together. I ran this combo in my personal EVO IX and in our rally car a few years back.

SBR make great motors. Marti and Mike are great guys and can get you setup for whatever you need. Congrats on making the switch to a 2.4L MIVEC

I wouldn't run any SBR products if I were you. Their customer service and support is not up to par with some of the other vendors on here.

Check the customer reviews section on here, or via google.

I am going to go ahead and disagree with you. A very good friend of mine recently spun a bearing in his 07 sti. Mike Huml has been working with him very closely on the build, by closely i mean multp email back and forth daily. When the motor arrived back UPS literally dropped it off the freight truck. I can honestly say Mike has whole heartedly stepped up to the plate to work with my friend and UPS to get a resolution. Unfortunately UPS is the worst shipping company ever (i dont use them from prior experiences) but Mike has stepped up and even donated services to ensure the motor is ok.

I have also heard bad rap on SBR but i can honestly say their prices and customer service, at least in my close second hand experience, has been top notch. Not to mention their extremely nice porting work that i have seen first hand.

I had a 2.6l in my own EVO IX thanks to a great custom billet crank from Brian Crower. I even had the guts to run this on a stock IX turbo for a week or so - you want to talk about mad TQ - I had 400 ft/lbs at 3500 RPM's... it was a cool ride for sure.

I then went to a turbo to big for my taste before I sold the car - it was a BW S366 I believe in a T4 frame - made great HP (580 ish at 24 PSI) but obviously was lacking low end grunt. I then sold the car, I get bored to easy... it's kind of sad actually.

I wish I could have that car (EVO IX) and my STI back (05), o.k. and maybe my turbo hayabusa....

i used to use them all the time back in my 1g and 2g days then out of of nowhere one day i ordered a trans for my 2g from them got it and it was a mitsu rebuild from what i was told, long story short trans was bad called there multiply times no one wanted to help finally talked to mike huml he basically said i was "beat" and the only thing he offered was for me to drive out there which was like a 3-4 hour drive and he said he would "look" at it, after that experience with sb racing i never used them again. Now maybe times have changed and things are better there but they rubbed me the wrong way and dont want to deal with a vendor that treats there REPEATING customers like that!

When we order transmissions from Mitsu - there is a new and rebuilt price, I do not know the particulars about this case, but you were probably quoted 3k for a new one and $1,400 for a rebuilt one - and you probably took the less expensive option.

That's my guess, but if you could not bring it to us to look at - there was not much we could do.

Long story short, sold it to a kid and it got trailered back to the dealership I worked for at the time with in 5 hours of him buying it. Kid managed to blow on of the cylinder walls out. New scuby shorty and havent seen it since. I think it is still somewhere in the Upstate SC tho

SBR had a scholarship program at my Tech school, We had an open house and they said they would be their with the Rally car and some other cars. Had a nice big spot cleared out for them to display, long story short no show no call, I had heard alot of negative things about them and this pretty much confirmed it for me.
