Perhaps the single largest hindrance in this case came from the fact that he was dealing with items that he neither needed nor wanted, mainly a Greddy EBC, and Haltech. Not that these items can't be made to work, but in this case, they don't really accomplish anything that cannot be done with the factory ECU, and therefore just present unnecessary complications that create more problems than they solve. The rub here is that unless one has a good working knowledge of the ECU, he's going to venture into a world of considerable time and expense invested, only to be left dependent upon others for even the most simple of tasks. Since he was having a tough time getting out of a jam, I stepped in to help.

He did forego the HKS 272s for a set of Kelfords, so that worked in his favor. As for the Perrin IC, I don't want to guess as to how it compares to the top-tier ICs often used here (e.g. Buschur, Nisei, ETS, etc.), but it is what it is.

Basically, I started with one of the later Tephra base programs and built it from scratch. With the base file and his existing maps, the car showed a paltry 360whp at 20psi. After removing much of the chaos and getting the basics under control (e.g. injector scaling and latency, etc.), we gradually turned up the wick.

Everything responded fairly well, but we left off with 465 knock-free whp on tap at 30psi. If I had more time, I'd like to go back and revisit the ignition map at 27-28psi, but what I did already required the better part of a day.

When we opened his open dump valve, it picked up a little power everywhere, especially above 7k rpm (485whp).

A few carefully chosen parts and an open WG dump tube should put this car where it should be and where I'd like to see it, which is over 500whp on 93 octane.

As been said many times before no matter what products are used the end results are only as good as the 'person' setting them up.
Good Job Ted B!

Thanks gents!

As we all know, tuning may be only 5% of the overall project cost, but determines 85% of the outcome.

I just threw a rope to someone who was hip deep in quicksand. All's well that ends well.

The 'original tune' AFAIK was in the Haltech, which never worked properly for one reason or another. The tune in the factory ECU was for a different configuration, so it was off.
