new a/c question for a/c gurus

ok so my a/c hasn't been working for a while so i figured i should check it since summer is coming up. turns out im not getting voltage at the connector thats at the compressor for the clutch. i have spent all day checking relays and fuses and all seems fine. anyone know what the problem could be? are there any other spots that have fuses or relays besides under the hood?

what i ended up doing was hooked a wire to the connector and wired it to a switch. would it be fine to run that way till i cant figure out the exact problem? i can turn the clutch on manually flipping the switch and was able to recharge the system that way. nice to have cold a/c again. please help, texas gets very hot in the summer

IF the refrigerant charge is adequate, you may have a bad pressure switch. You should get your hands on the pdf service manual and troubleshoot it according to the factory procedure.

ill try to find a service manual. what about my other question on having it wired to a switch to activate the clutch manually? i actually hooked it up to my foglight switch. kinda sucks my fogs wil be on anytime i want the ac on but it doesn't really bother me.

So long as the system is blowing cool air, my hunch is you're ok for the time being. But troubleshoot it ASAP.

If you recharged your system you have a leak. That is why you didn't have voltage when you activated the AC. The pressure sensors were not seeing enough pressure in the line to activate/deactivate the clutch. I haven't looked at our system but they usually are all the same. high/low pressure sensors, evap temp and sometimes refrig. temp sensors. You bypassed the safety features to make the compressor work. The clutch is now engaged and doesn't cycle like it should. high side pressures can get out of hand, evaporator will freeze up and over works the compressor.

Look for an oily spot around where the lines are bolted together and look at the condenser for foreign object damage.

well i let it run for like 5 min and i looked for leaks and saw nothing around the fittings up front. condenser looks fine, no noticeable damage. i DID see something dripping underneath the car coming from the area where the oil pan ends towards the back. could it be normal condensation? after only 5 min of being on? maybe its a leak, but i dont know what it would leak from back there. not to sure on the fluid cus it was dark outside but looked clear... maybe a very light hint of light green. i will double check tomorrow. i will test the press switch tomorrow if i can figure out how to.
any more advice is welcome. thanks!

turned the ac on this morning for 2-3 min then all of a sudden the freon(i think) shot out from somewhere around the compressor. there seems to be a valve like thing on the top of the compressor towards the back of it. i think it came out of that. what does that mean when it shoots it all out like that?

the fluid you see dripping is water coming from the evaporator. that is nothing to worry about. The freon that shot out from the compressor is the high psi relief valve. Meaning the high side pressure was somewhere about 350psi. Normal operation is 200-250psi. Low psi is 20-40psi. I bet the fan didn't come on and that is why the valve opened.

thanks for your help, this is all starting to make sense to me now. i take it that the press sensor acts like a switch also to turn the fan on incase the pressure gets to high correct? which leads me to believe the sensor is bad. i will try and test it and if i need to go pick one up from mitsu
