Throttle Body Water Hose Split in Two

Yesterday I was doing a pull on my car and when I got home I get coolant odor and when I open the hood found that the throttle body water hose was split into two.

What type of hose should I used to avoid this? The dealer takes 1 week to get a replacement. I went to the local auto parts and could only find fuel injector hose in 5/16 ID. I have used this before in an Integra but not sure if there is something better for the Evo since I believe it runs hotter due to being turbocharged.

Any recommendations? I tried to get transmission oil cooler hose but could not find it either.

Why not just bypass the throttle body and loop the hoses that flow coolant from the engine...

for people that drive in cold month sometime in the year, i wouldnt recommend as it can effect cold idling. for puerto rico or florida, it wont be an issue.

Still need a hose to bypass the coolant. What is the best hose to be used?

Use some fuel hose and bypass that T/B. I live in Chicago climate and have not had a problem in below 0 weather.

Any decent auto parts store should have 5/16" and 3/8" coolant hose. When my turbo coolant feed line got a pinhole in it I found a nice molded reinforced Gates hose that fit better than stock.

Just loop the new line back to bypass the throttle body to keep the intake charge cooler.

Is it OK to use plugs to seal the outlets on the head instead of loop it?

NO you still need to keep the consistent flow throughout the entire head!

Mikey is correct. Loop it but do not plug the head. There have been some horror sttories on here about those plugs popping off or not being able to handle the heat and the pressure.

Just go to a good hardware store and as someone else suggested, get Gates hose. Take in the busted stock hose so that they'll give you the same ID.

Yeah, loop that ish and don't look back. If you have cold idle issues, then go back. If not, keep it looped as this is best for performance. Some cars have issues, some don't. Depends on how cold it gets.

Lets play the devils advocate here. The water in the head is there to cool off the head when it heats up to operating temperature. Is it possible that the water loop in the throtle body cools the intake charge a bit when the engine heats up. I mean that if it is possible that by removing the loop the trottle body gets even hotter when the engine heats up because there is no water to "cool" it off?

For now, buy something from the auto parts store to get you by. Take in a piece of the old hose for a match.

However, the molded hoses from Mitsu are nice and not expensive. Having had one hose pop should be an indication of the condition of the remaining hoses on your Evo.
