stock cammed cars should be easy. generally they arent making enough power to have to worry about backpressure. i have goals of 700+whp. i think stock cams will be a bit of a choke at that level.

I took a look under my car and did some rough eyeball measurements with a tape measure. I think 7" would probably fit, but it'd be very close to the driveshaft. I'm too chicken to be a pioneer on that, so I just ordered the 6"x14" and a couple of flanges. If it's still not quiet enough (what I expect), then I'll pursue plan B (replacing the rear muffler with a more restrictive one and implementing a cutout in the rear).

You could have also taken a card board. Cut a 7" diameter circle with a 3" diameter center and slip it over the 3" testpipe. In your case you have the bullet which is 4-5" diameter so just make a bigger center in the cardboard. That way you could slide it around and see if it hits anything.

But definitely let us know how it goes with the double magnaflow. Hopefully its able to quiet down the aggressive cam setup you have.

that's what i drew up on paper when i was bored in class, always wondered if anyone has done it

i used QTP twice, i owned their downpipe which i didnt like due to clearance and afr sensor position

second setup i had was 3" dp, 3" test pipe with welded in qtp+ stock cat back, that setup was ok but i still think car didn't have enough back pressure

That doesn't make sense. Ideally you want zero or negative backpressure from the turbo onward...

Honestly cutout loose alot of tq, I lost almost 40wtq when I put one on. There only going to help when your 500+whp. Not many people with 500whp+ care about noise haha.

There has to be a replacement muffler for VW with the valve controled by vacumm. Someone go join a VW forum and find a 3" aftermarket one. I did do a little searching around and found some, for $600...................haha.

That's exactly my plan Matt, except the cutout will be boost actuated, see a few posts back. I'm massing parts and searching for a stock muffler.

yeah Matt i really think that setup could be what i'm looking for, but i don't have to go as far as boost actuated hehe

or last option worth a try, magnaflow muffler as a test pipe+ RRE stealth cat-back?

I like to over-complicate things.

For me there are 2 reasons of wanting quiet.

1. For some reason it just sounds like the noise is coming from the front and drones into my ear annoying me to death.

2. Its embarrassing.

Well according to dynomax, I should be receiving the new muffler in a couple days. Also they want the current defective muffler so UPS should be picking that up in the process.

Will update when it arrives.
