Project Valve Technology Muffler
UPDATE ON POST 2 !!!!!!!
Is it possible he might have tested the Dynomax with baffles and not this one?
If you want stock quiet this will be for you. If you want live able quiet the double magnaflow will do the job.
I'm not sure how restrictive or not this is. But it basically works like a cutout. So if a cutout is not restrictive then I dont see how this will be.
As for normal driving back pressure information etc... I dont have that data info. But if anyone is in the area with tuning abilities your welcome to datalog my car.
BluEvo - Awesome thread start once again....I was at a performance shop just yesterday looking at the Dynomax. According to the owner it was the quietest he had tested (Magnaflow, Borla, etc.), but he felt it was more restrictive. I was not comfortable with his 'data' and left.
The question I have is for a ~450 whp car, what does a 3" std. setup (like my Megan Racing) gain over the stock ? For a while now I felt most of the gains reported in people's post was replacing the catalytic converter with a test pipe. I love driving my car, but just hate the drone and wish it were more quiet. As such I keep coming back to the idea of just putting the stock cat back on and keeping the 3" dp and HFC. Thoughts ??
I guess after I get my car finally tuned (new injectors and turbo), I could swap the exhausts and post VDR plots....

Its not going to be exactly like a straight pipe or cutout but damn close in my opinion. Besides I'll be glad to give up 3-5 whp for absolute silence. This is just a preference thing.
Also the internal is straight through but just offset. Straight through meaning no tapers or chambers. But if your referring to the offset style vs straight style then that shouldn't really make any more difference than the curve around the axles that almost all catbacks have.

Update:
I ordered the smaller displacement motor version to test out.
Rattling noise fixed. It was caused by the lower portion of the plate but in the picture the upper smaller half rubbing on the pipe. It can be fixed by filing it a little or slightly bending the plate out.

At the moment I have it installed on my car with a ghetto job. Its embarrassing but its temporary until I receive the exhaust tubing and a nice exhaust tip. But for now, its a 45 degree bend mild steel intercooler pipe from a mustang 01 Cobra supercharger kit and an coat hanger.

I did some more driving its nice and stock quiet cruising and low throttle (vacuum) acceleration. The sound linearly increases as you apply more throttle or approach 0 vacuum /start to boost. So far I've only driven it up to 50 mph and its nice and quiet at those speeds. Its not really that much rpm activated as it is load and throttle. So accelerate slow your in stock exhaust territory, when you boost and your opening up the exhaust note.

My current Setup was Cobb downpipe > Buschur High Flow cat > Buschur Magnaflow catback.
Currently now I replaced the Buschur Magnaflow muffler with this Ghetto rigged DynoMax VT muffler. So its setup up as follows : Cobb Downipe > Buschur HFC > Buschur Intermediate pipe (from catback) > Dynomax VT muffler with ghetto tip.
However I think I will still make the same 6" muffler testpipe to replace the High Flow cat. I dont really like running a cat because it kind of feels like its robbing power in the upper rpm range. Also the 6" muffler setup in the center was much quieter than running this cat.
There are 2 versions of this muffler. The up to 4.0L and the more than 4.0L. Currently I have the 4.0L or larger displacement version of the muffler.
And yes I already placed an order for the smaller displacement version. Its currently shipping and should be here tomorrow or Friday.

Honestly I dont really like the color of the metal. They say its stainless steel, but the case looks sort of like aluminized steel. Maybe the case is coated or something... I'll probably paint it black or something.
Mine is actually pretty quiet when cruising on the highway I'm just looking for different options. I have 2 5" diameter mufflers and 1 resonator so I'm sure its pretty heavy but it does the job.

Also keep in mind although I did a WOT pull to see how it sounds. I havent done any real testing to see if there is any power difference. I cant really dyno, but I check to see if boost changes etc...
