Have you guys seen this? http://www.xforce.com.au/

Not cheap by any means, but looks very, very promising. There's a separate thread for it here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...t-exhaust.html

From the first page of this thread post #3,4 & 6 we already discussed this option. Way before the thread to that link was created. I just dont like the idea of having it work with an electronic switch. I prefer something fast reacting and automatically controlled. There are only 2 options that I know of which could full fill this either the current VT muffler (cheaper option) or fab'ing a boost activated valve that opens with pressure just like a wastegate actuator (expensive option).

Most of us dont have the tools or resources to do that, unless someone working at a shop, vendor etc... wants to give it a shot.

I'm curious how the smaller than 4.0 L version would work out? From my experience with the smaller displacement version the valve would float slightly open during normal driving and or idle. I kept the larger displacement version because it requires more throttle to open, there for overall it is quieter. But if the smaller version stays open without slamming shut, then I'm guessing it might work with cams setup. However you might have to sacrifice more noise being added. But I have no clue how much more sound db.

Hi,

I was watching all your progress on these quite exhaust project, and all I can say is Well Done !.

I am in the same boat with my 550+hp Evo 6.5 TME, have a Blitz Nur-Spec R which is known as the loudest in the field especially when it gets old. Decided to go quite and stealth now, as I am planning to use it as a daily use car now.

Now I came up with these parts for my quite project, just need your comment on it:

1. ATP 3" downpipe – already on the car

2. SLP Performance High-Flow Catalytic Converters
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SLE-813000001/

3. Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded Mufflers
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-17220/

4. Dynomax VT Mufflers
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-17957/

5. MagnaFlow Performance Mirror Finish Stainless Steel Race Series Muffler
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-14828/

- Now do I need all the parts from 2-5?
- Is it to much? Or its going to restrict it much?
- What should I go for after the D/Pipe? Spl Cat or Dyno Ultra Muff?
- Any better solutions or other recommended parts?

Regards,

Omar

1. It doesnt matter what down pipe you have as long as its a 3" downpipe with out any neck downs.

2. Do not run a catalytic converter, instead put a resonator or small muffler in its place. If your set on having a catalytic converter then I would recommend mil.spec 100 cell cat. From what I read it is one of the least restrictive and pretty reliable from fouling.
Mil.Spec Catalytic converter
http://www.maperformance.com/mil.spe...00cat-3.0.html

Muffler that can be used in replace of the cat:
4" muffler
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-14419/

5" muffler
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-12867/

6" muffler
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-12619/

3. No!

4. Yes!!!!! Depending on if you have cam's and if they idle smooth then a definite yes!!! If you get this muffler it wont matter if you run a cat or center muffler or just a straight pipe in the center cat location. During normal operation you will be quiet. During WOT pull depends on what you run in the center cat location, it will affect the sound level output. Currently I am running a 6" center muffler but I'm guessing its not really needed. I am actually thinking of stepping down to just a resonator in the center or a 4" muffler. Something like the Buschur SD muffler I think would be perfect combo to run in the center and Dynomax VT muffler in the rear axleback.

5. No!

Once you put on the Dynomax VT muffler you do not need to run all the mufflers listed. Besides there wont be space to fit them all lol. However I just recommend if you can, get Buschur SD center muffler and Dynomax VT muffler. It will be super quiet during normal driving, but open up once you go WOT . But it still wont be obnoxious loud, just loud.

Currently with my 6" muffler in the center and Dynomax VT muffler during normal driving its very close to OEM like quietness if not exact. When I do a WOT pull the valve opens and the sound decibel also increases but nothing obnoxious and I wont be heard miles away. However I am running an internal wastegate. To best explain the sound during WOT, its like running a mini wastegate dump only the sound comes from the rear. Its a very aggressive tone and and not a deep rumble or a lot of rasp. I open the rear passenger window to let my passengers hear what it sounds like when it opens up. And they all agree with the mini dump sound like thats aggressive in tone and not obnxiously loud. But I dont know from a outside POV.

I'm know nothing about tuning. I have the equipment, but not the ***** haha. I think a higher idle would help, I think that's just changing one value, or do I need to modify a table?

It's been a few months now and I won't take it off. It is absolutely SILENT on the road. When I first drove it I thought the car stalled, it was so freaking quiet. If you don't have cams, it sounds like the valve clapping wont be an issue.

Using EcuFlash, I believe its under :

-Idle
--Target Minimum Idle

Its going to open a table of Engine coolant temps and rpms. If I'm not mistaken the temps 77 & 82 are the ones you want to mess with for fully warmed up mode.

If you have the equipment then just save the original tune and mess with a copy. Your only going to play around with the rpms, so you wont need to be a tuner guru for that. If you make a mistake that you cant reverse, just reflash the original tune you saved.

What RPM's are you idling now with your current tune and setup? I'm guessing if your still around OEM rpms ~750, then raising the Rpms might help resolving your issue or significantly reducing it. But you dont want to set some crazy high rpm value either.

It doesnt look like it will fit anywhere else. Its a wide body oval muffler.

rattle

I purchased this muffler and got it installed on my 95 talon. During cold start i hear a rattle for a small amount of time then once warm it goes away. Driving off from a dead stop you hear a rattle for a short time. I notice the most rattle on deceleration and it sounds horrible. Does anyone else notice rattling like this ?

I bought my muffler from summit and they told me they were a new stock.

I love it while driving and cruising but this rattle may be getting to me.

I no longer have the box . The shop who welded it on for me tossed the box. I only have my summit invoice.

I may go this route. I currently have the stock exhaust and I love how quiet it is.

I bought a Vishnu Signature DP w/300 cell HFC and a Greddy Evo 2 CB with a built in resonator. I expect to cut off the muffler section a have a shop fit this Dynomax in its place.

Based on what I read, I should order the 4.0L+ version?

My car has an HKS GTII turbo with stock cams.

You should try the sound with the Evo2. You might be surprised. It may not be as quiet as the Dynomax but Greddy Evo2's have good tone.
